    Zvezda are having a furious start to the season, having beaten Levski by 30 goals, and Cibona by 22 away. Cibona gave Olimpija a hard time in the first round game, which is why I can't really understand why this handicap is set to low. I expected it to be at last three points higher, which, in my opinion, makes this bet worth going for. Zvezda are destroying the opponents, having good-quality players for each position, and the stakes would be even higher if it wasn't this early in the season. Olimpia's shooting efficiency is another reason to opt for this bet since they missed a huge number of shots and free throws in the first two games. I was wondering whether to go with over at Zvezda or the handicap, but Olimpija proved they can play tough defense, which is why is decided for the handicap that really seems to be set too low.     Laboral and Unicaja are currently doing very differently. Laboral are still in the process of building their team, joined by a number of new players and a new coach. It took him a few months last seasons as he took over at Sienna to get the team organized. They opened the season with two convincing losses to Barcelona, and currently aren't nowhere near their top level. Unicaja are one of the best teams, I think they're just short of Real and Barcelona in ACB at the moment. They lost Dragic, but Stefansson will be a great replacement. They can't count on Suarez at the moment, but with a lot of other options for the positions 3 and 4, that won't be as important. They're doing great this early in the season, as the preseason tournament in Istanbul proved. They beat Olympiakos, Efes, and played a draw with CSKA there.     Nantes are undefeated in the French championship, which the experts agree is only getting better as the time goes by. The hosts are a top team, with at least two choices for every position. On the other hand, while they have quite a good team, Varazdin are not a top team at the moment. More importantly, they went to France without their only good goal keeper Loncar. That means that young Spikic and Mestirc (joined from the second tired Trnovac) will be tending their goal today. That is definitely good news for the mighty French offense. Varazdin also can't count on right back Srsen, leaving them with slow Herman or three righties for that position only. Nantes managed to limit offense-oriented Montpellier to 27 goals, which doesn't leave the Croatian team with a lot of hope. Also, Nantes have no championship games between the two EHF cup games, allowing them to focus on it completely. I think they won't have problems settling this game. Details

    Reims did have the best defense in the second division last season, but the top league is a whole other thing. 196 and 173 points were scored in their two opening games, and Chalon only confirmed once again that no one will take them seriously if they keep on playing such poor defense. Reims scored 84 against Paris (50 inn the first half before Paris managed to get their bearings). Paris got better in the second half, having recorded only 34 goals, and making a comeback. Besides, Reims played Dijon in the Cup away, and lost 66-63. I think that will be the case today too.

    Nancy are among the best defenses in the league, and their offense potential this year makes them on of the prime candidates for the title. Nancy had 12 preseason games to concede more than 78 points only in one of them, despite not being able to count on Pietrus, one of their two key defenders. In the three official games this season, Nancy conceded 75 points against the champions Limoges, and 68 to Gravelines and Bourg (they could have just as easily concede under 60 in the last two). They conceded more than 78 points in only one of their 15 games. They are well aware they cannot afford to allow Reims to unleash their offense potential, and I believe they would be able to do so. I think Reims are more likely to score 70-75 scored than over 80. Nancy beat them 75-71 very early in preseason. Details

    I simply can't figure out why this margin is set today. There are probably two reasons - Split's fast pace basketball and Sibenik's over in the first round. But, Split won't be as fast lead by Vulic, as their opening game made clear (134 points scored in total). Their preseason games (Jolly 112, Kastela 156, Zadar 154) suggest they won't play such fast pace game. Sibenik can't score that many. Their best scorer Basic is out, Vrkic and Marcius aren't doing their best, and Sibenik's offense is not very good either. 150 points are more likely to be scored today than 160 or more. Details

    Zagreb won Kiel, then lost against Vardar and PSG and, realistically, they didn't stand a chance in any of those matches. Today they will be without Mandalinic, Coric and Vuglac, and the imperative of winning creates an enormous pressure on this very young team. So far they haven't met with such a situation and it won't be an easy obstacle to overcome. No matter what coach Vujovic says, Metalurg have, on the other hand, passed a number of matches like this; with all the problems they till have a better team than Zagreb's, and Cervar has, for this away math, returned Atman, the best back in the rotation. Stanic is gone, but they were without him in Brest last week, as well as without Atman, and they've lost 28-24. Considering that defeat, today's match is, against another direct rival, from life importance and here they have to reach some points. I expect them to be at their maximum with ferocity and motivation. Cervar probably prepared them for a warriors' game. They were at similar strength differences last season in the SEHA league where they've won with 29-25, and currently favoring Zagreb has reached the 1.30 scale for this home win, and that's one of the bigger stupidities I've seen lately. Zagreb, if they win this, won't win over 2-3 difference, although I sincerely doubt they will win. Details

    Mors have been in the last three matches on 54, 70 and 57 goals, but that won't change the picture of them as a great defensive team with Sijan as the goalkeeper, who defends with quality. Those three matches should be observed through a different prism; against Sjkern they've played with no defense, rushed around all the time; last round against GOG they've had 16-9 at the break, but the game broke in the end and went up to 57 goals. Midtjylland are neither GOG nor Sjern, they don't have the speed, their team is a lot older with a lot of routines and they change the defense-offense tactics a lot. The two teams played twice in the preparation period and Mors won both matches with 24-23. Midtjylland, in away matches, have overs against Lemvig and Odder; and against Holstebro they've played 23-23. And Holstebro are far quicker than Mors. At the same time, Mors has 37 home goals against Sonderjyske, 45 against Aalborg and 54 against Arhus. I think that in today's match no one will be able to pass the 25 limit... Details
