    Maccabi struggled with each and every opponent home, except with Limoges in the opening game. They lost to Cedevita by 10 points, to CSKA by 23, beat ALBA by 6 even though the German team had a 4-point advantage with five minutes on the clock to squander the win away in the end. Pargo settled the score with two straight three-pointers, but moments like those don't come often for Maccabi's American, who's performances aren't meeting expectations. The match with Unicaja is not relevant for Maccabi, except if they decide to use it to get ALBA in their next stage group (in case they lose). If they win, Unicaja will be one of their opponents. The Germna team is clearly a more favorable draw, but not even that is a reason for me to bet against Maccabi today. They are one level below their last season's games, while Unicaja play great basketball (10-1 record in ACB league). They took the lead by 20 points last week against CSKA, but failed to settle the game without their important shooter Toolson. Unicaja did well in Moscow too and beat Gran Canaria away, Kutxa away, Valencia away. This team can stand up to Maccabi at every position, and if Granger and Markovic were more productive, I would go with higher stake here. But, Unicaja are expected to stay in the game till the end and to have a chance for winning regardless. Details

    The bookies were probably influenced by the fact Valencia don't need a win, while Neptunas do when coming up with these odds. But, that has nothing to do with anything. Perasovic's coaching position is in serious danger, with each new defeat providing his critics with a new argument. Valencia beat Kutxa by 10 points home, Galatasaray by 7, lost to Zvezda by 9 in one of their worst games, and to top table Olympiacos by 3. How about Neptunas? They lost all four away games, not once by less than 10 points (in Greece). I had three options to consider for this game, the first one being visitors' total points under set at 76.5 points because they went over that margin only once (Olympiacos, 79, with 26 points in the last quarter). In the other three, Neptunas scored 69 (Laboral), 68 (Galatasaray) and 62 (Zvezda). The second option was handicap at Valencia because they are the better team here and Perasovic won't let them not try today, while Neptunas do horribly away. Third option, which I settled for in the end, is home team total point over at 80.5 points. Granted, Valencia didn't score over that margin in any of the four home games, but Neptunas' defense is not as those other defenses. When it comes to away games, they conceded 88 against Laboral, 94 against Galatasaray, 79 against Zvezda, and 89 against Olympiacos. Even in their only tough away game in the domestic championship, Neptunas conceded over 86 (Zalgiris). Besides, they conceded 87 to Valencia home in the first head-to-head game this season and if this should be a successful bet if Valencia do well. Handicap might seem like a better option at first, but I don't want to be forced to dread whether Valencia will take the final shot if they are already in the lead. Details

    For Galatasaray everything stops in these 40 minutes; they have to win this and hope that Neptunas will be defeated in Spain. It's true they mainly went over this margin so far in this part of the competition, but with a couple of players leaving they have a very narrow rotation and they can win this only with a good defense. They made a step forward against Trabzon, played a match at 142 points, but still lost in the end... They played with only seven players. They will rely on them again today, and there should be no rushing around. They didn't have offense solutions against Olympiacos this nor last season, they have a hard time coping with the pressure of the Greek team and in all three head-to-head matches they remained at 67 points or less... This margin may be under the influence of the fact that for Olympiacos this match doesn't mean much, but they will go for the maximum. The Turkish-Greek rivalry is huge, and besides that, this is their final match and check before the big Greek derby against Panathinaikos in ten days. Last week's match against Zvezda also had no greater meaning, it was a brotherly duel which ended on 123 points... Sferopoulos put the most pressure on the defense since his arrival. Olympiacos look more impressive in that part, and in today's match preview they also point out that is going to be their starting point. On Monday they pushed Panioios on 17 points in the first part, and played a match of 130 points... On the other hand, their offense struggles in away matches, not once did they score over 82 points in 40 minutes. The first head-to-head ended at 159 points, but was determined long before the end. I think today we'll see a match similar to the ones from previous season, which ended at 126 and 145 points... Details

    Match of the season for both teams and despite of it, the bookies see Friedrichshafen as a heavy favorite. It seems like the odds were set according to the first match, which Friedrichshafen won in straight sets, but that has nothing to do with the match taking place today. Olympiacos are good home, play their best matches at their arena, and football fans said they would be there today to support them. I think Olypiacos are 20-30% better home. They managed to put up a good fight against Zenit for two out three sets. The German team is not at Zenit's level. The first h2h match went brilliantly for the German side, but this one is not very likely to go as smoothly. They will be without opposite Finger, which is not that significant but it is shortening the list of players the coach can count on. I don't think these teams are different, everything went great for the Germans in the first match, Olympiacos were forced to do without Clark, and the home arena could be great help. The odds reflect that match from two weeks ago, which is no longer relevant. The Germans are not the kind of team that will be winning easily away, especially not in an atmosphere they will be faced with in Greece. Betting on Olympiacos has huge value. Details

    The Kings didn't manage to defeat the Wildcats in the last few years. They lost with half a point difference at home once, and by four points the other time. All but those two were convincing wins for the Wildcats. Accident? I think not. The Wildcats' basketball doesn't suit the Kings. Their pressing is too high, and they close off Magden and limit their ball flow, so everything comes down to individual attacks and attempts, and that's not how the Kings play. They lost by 19 at home this season, and what changed since? The Wildcats lost the first place and will bite even more now. They started giving their substitutes more chances, Drake and Wagstaff, and they completely justified the trust given. Knight keeps getting better numbers in the paint and will definitely limit their approach to the hoop. I think the Kings are overrated. Their team is limited, especially in the offense. Childress is the only good player, Brandt is an average scorer, and Magden didn't really fit in best in the new system. Even though they defeated the Breakers at home last week, the Breakers had a disastrous half-time where they had 17 rebounds less. The Wildcats are better with rebounds, have better players for four out of five positions, and they should be convincing against the Kings. The handicap of 4.5 points simply makes no sense, even more so when you know that the Wildcats are the best team of the league when it comes to intense matches. Details
