    The bookmakers lean towards the bigger number of goals in this match with the odds set, but there's nothing better for that than the fact that Southampton beat Vitesse 3-0 in the first duel. They had 20 hits to the goal, compared to six by Vitesse. If that was the statistic in the first match, why not the second, even though Southampton don't have to rush things tonight, just be patient and protect the result they got before. Vitesse aren't really capable right now to beat them with a high score right now, but knowing Ronaldo Koeman's offensive philosophy from when he was coaching the 1st Dutch league, he's not coming to Arnhem to defend himself, he's coming to play and score at least one goal.
    Since we're pretty convinced that Pelle, Tadić, Juanmi and the others can penetrate much stronger defenses, they'll shake Vitesse's net, and this will become a revue match where there won't be need for wasting energy and strict defense, so chances to score will happen more often.
    On Vitesse's side, everything's clear because only scoring three goals can bring them hope. Even if they can create a miracle, they owe it to the full stands to at least try to beat the guest, and despite the departures and absences, they've still got enough offensive potential. We believe this match in Arnhem will be great to watch, between two rivals who could have had a much easier lot in this qualifying round.     The Hungarians said they're going for the fifth place. Considering their quality and the fact that they played one match in Kazan in ten days, that should be their motive. On the other hand, the American coach said he'll give a chance to the players who haven't played much yet. How much that is true will be seen, but the fact is that this is the third big competition for the Americans in five weeks, so no point to bother Azevedo and the older players now. The Hungarians didn't get tired, they definitely have plenty of strength left. The press aren't happy, they weren't too critical, but a new defeat wouldn't be welcomed, especially for the coach Benedek. The Americans surprised everyone in the World League quarterfinal, but I don't think they will this time. I expect the Hungarians to react the right way. Details

    The way the Australians lost the semifinal must hurt, it's hard to swallow and keep moving, but that's all they can do now. They have to try to get the best place possible in the final list, and they said they'll play their best till the end because otherwise, they won't only lose respect by the others, they'll lose respect for themselves. It won't be easy to transition from fighting for the medal to fighting for the place mentally, but what do the Montenegrins feel then. Their atmosphere is really low, the players are accusing each other, saying there's no sense in playing these matches, and the coach Perović will probably get fired. Montenegro played weakly in Kazan and I don't know why they'd look better in a match they obviously don't feel like playing. The Australians have kept their spirits high this entire championship, they're consistent, and what they lack are wins against big teams. They lost a big scalp three times, and that's what Montenegro would be, despite of this match not really being relevant. They had it a week ago, and I think they'll fix that blunder today. Details

    Gibbs doesn't have good results this year, but now she's at home, at US Open. Gibbs isn't the only American player who likes to play in front of the home audience. Here she scored three wins, which is a third of all her wins this year and that's no coincidence. On Australian Open she showed she can deal with Svitolina, she lost two tie-breaks, and in the second set had five set-points. Svitolina's problem is the aggressive Gibbs and that doesn't suit her. The handicap is set very high, and if you ask me that's not realistic, it's based on both of their results. But we have to take into consideration that Gibbs this year already troubled Svitolina, that she can stand up to her. Gibbs is in front of home audience and she will give more than her best. Besides, Svitolina covered this handicap only twice (5.5) and in the firs two matches of the new season. Gibbs can reach a set today, but the border is simply such that it will pass in a modest defeat in two sets. Details
