    Spartak traditionally don't have any problems against Krylya - they defeated them in five out of last six games they played, and they won in the last three away games. We had a situation similar to this one in the second round when we had a prediction at -0.75 CSKA, it finished at 2-0, and I would feat the Samaran team today either. Even though they have three points, they are playing horribly. They are unable to create a real chance, they had only one shot at goal against CSKA, the same against Amkara in the previous round. In a game they won, the one against Anzhi, they were supposed to be demolished. Anzhi hit the goal post three times, missed numerous other chances, and Krylya managed to win with only two shots on goal. And I will look at that goal they scored with some reserve, because it was scored after a corner kick, and not directly after the cross, and Anzhi's defense is responsible for that goal because they didn't cleat the situation right away. So, Krylya shot on goal only four times in three rounds, and they somehow managed to kick that one ball into the goal. On the other hand, Spartak finally radiate with confidence. The game against Krasnodar has shown that the team has improved with the arrival of Dmitri Alenichev, because Krasnodar previously demolished them (3-1. 4-0, 4-0). After that win, they celebrated against Rubin, and they haven't conceded in any of those games. A small stain on their record is the first round against Ufa, but that was one of those games when you simply cannot score, and the opponent scores as soon as they shoot on the goal, and even 60 games with an extra player on the pitch didn't make a difference then. All in all, I think that Krylya can't cause a serious threat today. Details

    When these two teams faced each other a month ago at the European Open, the margin was set at 49.5 goals. It finished at 55 and that probably had great influence at this margin. However, European Open is one thing, and the World Championship is another thing. The stakes are much higher here, and the difficult group both of these teams are in doesn't leave much room for calculations. Each goal could be very important, and except advancement to the quarter-final, it is also important to have the highest possible position, because the third and fourth teams will most definitely face strong Hungary and Sweden in the quarter-final. The Spaniards are perhaps defensively the strongest team at this Championship, no one scored over 25 goals against them in Poland last year, and they conceded on average 21.5 goals per game. As far as the preparation games over the Summer are concerned, Netherlands scored 26 goals against them in an exhibition match (42-26), Iceland 28, and no one else over 23. Spain lost that game in which they couldn't impose themselves defensively and I think that was a good lesson for them. On the other hand, yesterday's game against Egypt was the best example of how many problems they have against a firm defense that doesn't allow counterattacks, which Iceland is capable of doing. They scored 6 goals in 23 minutes, 10 by the half time, and 20 more in the second half when Egypt fell apart completely. Iceland will not fall apart. As far as they are concerned, their defense is often unjustly put in the background, but they destroyed Germany yesterday with their 5-1 defense, and if the game had not fallen apart early, they could have left them at 22-23 goals without a problem. On the other hand, the Spaniards are much faster than the Germans, they don't give away a lot and they will not allow Iceland to score many easy goals. Last year in Poland, Iceland played 29-24 against Serbia, 24-24 against Sweden, lost 24-22 against Switzerland in the first stage. All the games finished well below this margin and they haven't conceded more than 24 goals against anyone. In the later play-off they played 26-25 against defensively strong Macedonia, and at a lot of goals against very fast Russia, Belarus and Croatia in result-wise irrelevant games. This will be a completely different game, with high stakes and tense until the very end and I think that we will not be watching another game at over 55 goals. Details

    Although the Croats are playing at a milder pace than they did in Poland, they managed to go to 59 goals yesterday against Switzerland who are mediocre at running and good in defense. They went up to today's margin, and now they are facing a completely different team. The Russians are a team that knows only of running and offense, defense is a thing of minor importance to them. They have shown that in the first round against Algeria in a match that finished at 78 goals. The Croats defeated them in the European Championship Round robin 40-24 last year, when the Russians didn't need the win so they made more rotations. The outside line Santalov-Bolotin-Dasko scored a total of 8 goals, which will hardly be repeated today, goalkeeper Spikic was declared player of the game, and that same guy finished yesterday's game with horrible 3/20 saves. Defense in front of him had a lot of problems with guarding physically powerful outside player Alili and Rubin, and the Russians will have even stronger and more dangerous shooters today in Santalov and Dasko.
