    The Greeks showed their strength against BiH yesterday, beating them by 39 points difference. Russia crushed them, too, but the Greek way was far more impressive. They didn't allow their opponent over 12 points in any of the periods. The defense are going towards the 100% Katsikaris keeps talking about, and a different player stands out in the offense every time. The width the Greeks have is why you should pick this one today. The second Greek five are much better than the first Russian, and the difference will keep growing through the 40 minutes, even more so because the Greeks are playing at home, and will want to leave an impression. Russia would hardly match them even with their full lineup, and without half their team, it'll be even tougher. It should be mentioned that the Russian backcourt lacks a player who's handy with the ball, who could organize the game, and the aggressive Greek backs will definitely take an advantage of that. Koufos and Bourossis will take care of the rebounds, and it's really hard to find a segment where the Russians could hope to be better. Besides, they stayed at -34, and -38 against similar teams - Serbia and France. We're not saying the Greeks will win this by 30+, but they should definitely have a double-digit difference in their win. Details

    Leipzig are a serious team who stand a realistic chance to remain in the league. Last season, Leipzig only once in the last 11 rounds scored over 29 goals. Recently they played at 24-26 against Fuchse, they have a great young goalkeeper, a solid defense strengthened this summer. They're two backs short in the rotation which is a plus for this type. HSV will surely have aces who will brake the hosts' offense, and since they're still not played-out and have a lot of problems in that segment, it's hard to expect a match which will gravitate towards 60 goals. A plus for this bet is the fact that last week HSV got knocked out of the Cup by the second-league team Nordhorn and now they're after redemption. Details

    The French beat Iran 3-0 yesterday, and Japan lost to Poland 0-3. These matches are every team's preparation for the World Cup in Japan, except for France who started getting ready for the EC (October). After winning the World League, where they got exhausted both mentally and physically, they'll need time to get back to competitive rhythm. They're without Toniutti here, and while they will play the most important match tomorrow against Poland, I expect the coach Tillie to give the starters some rest today. No point for them to play all three matches 100%, Japan are hosting the World Cup that begins in two weeks. All of their matches will be tough there, and this is a great way for them to get ready. We all know that Japan play all their matches the best they can, they don't relax. They recently won the Asian championship, and they're not a team that a great European team could beat 3-0 if they don't take this match serious enough.     The Russians and the Danes were the favorites before the tournament began, and then confirmed it by getting placed to the Final, but Hungary were right behind, and I think they'll get the 3rd place today.
    The Hungarians played 17 matches since November 2014, and got 14 wins, one draw (Denmark 27-27), and two defeats, one from Denmark at this EC (30-33), and the other from Russia here, 24-33. They got beaten by better teams. The Russians did crush them, but they were an even opponent to Denmark, and it was losing focus and the lack of rotation that influenced their defeat. They have a great back line, and good results from the pre-season, but what's worth pointing out from this EC is the big difference in the number of balls lost offensively. The Hungarians had 50 till this match, and the Romanians 83, but also the turnovers, the Hungarians had 18 and the Romanians 8 total.
    The semifinal was a gift from heaven for the Romanians. They already accepted that they won't be in top eight, and then the Spaniards beat the Germans in a sensational match, and Romania got to the main phase of the EC with only one win, then playing their best two matches, against Slovenia (35-24) and Sweden (28-21). Still, even the Romanian fans admit they're not really a generation that look promising.

    Pogress are, as their coach Sokolov claims, a different team. They brought in strong Russian additions who will try to stabilize the young inexperienced team. The bad matches are their past and behind them; Progress did great in the pre-season matches: they didn't win but they gave a good beating to Dinu and Dinamo from Moscow, two teams who are at least two classes above both of today's clubs. Progress are already mentioning playoffs as a possibility this season.
    On the other hand, Norilsky Nickel are almost identical to the last season. Coach Maevski didn't want an official friendly match in the preparation period, but they played "among themselves" behind closed doors.
    Statistically speaking, Progress played against Norilsky three head-to-heads under this goal margin, but they were at the time a weak team. Now they're more even, this is the first round and I don't see this match being the one with a lot of goals. I see it as a ditch battle with very few chances in which both teams will try to reach points from the start of the season.
    Considering that plenty of betting houses will have "live" in their betting options, I recommend opting for a smaller number of goals in the first half. Details

    Even though this is the U19 Championship, we should go with Turkey winning today. France and Turkey were in the same WC group and Turkey won 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-12). The fact is, results are often misleading at this age group but Turkey had massive dominance in all statistical segments. France were knocked out in group stage, while Turkey finished in Spot three at this year's EC. France beat Germany 3-2 after two hours in the last game of the day. Turkey had it much easier against Japan and had more time for rest. I don't understand why the odds are this close. France are even the favorite with some bookies. Given everything I said, Turkey's win seems like a very good option. Details
