    Second division team Limerick will face top division team Galway at their own Markets Field stadium In the League Cup quarter-final. The home team are currently the best in the second division, and they are currently on a nine game winning run, their goal difference is 40-8, and we can conclude that they belong in the top division. In the previous two rounds of this competition they defeated Cobh (4-2) and Wexford (4-0), and in the championship they defeated Waterford 7-2. O'Flynn scored the hat trick, and he scored 11 goals in 10 games (7 in the championship and 4 in League Cup). On Saturday he was substituted 20 minutes before the end because coach Russel had no need to keep him in the rest of the game. He is expected to score tonight as well, and Russel said: "All players love Cup competitions and they want to participate in them. I don't see why we wouldn't go far this season...". Russel is in a great situation, they don't really have a good rival in the championship because it is clear that Limerick will win the title, and return to the top division where a team of their quality belongs. If we look back we will see that Russel played the Cup with his strongest lineup, and only three days later, in the championship, he rested some players. Similar will happen in the upcoming league game on Friday, at Cobh. So we can expect Limerick's strongest players on the pitch tonight.
    Galway have first eliminated Mayo League 3-1 (Cunningham scored all three goals), and then Finn Harps after penalties, since the match was goalless. In both of those games, coach Dunne sent out a combined lineup, which is also expected tonight. It is known that two former Limerick players will not be playing, their first scorer Faherty (10-8) and defender Devaney (7-2). Faherty was Limerick's main striker last season, and now he is playing that role in Galway. Both of Limerick's former players are supposedly out due to injuries, and striker Cunningham will also be out today, he scored all three goals against Mayo League. Last Friday, against Langford, he came in in the second half but he got injured after five minutes. Coach Dunne did not use first goalkeeper Winn , Horgan, Connolly, Sullivan and previously mentioned Flaherty in the first two Cup games. Their starters in the previous two rounds of the League Cup were: 21-year-old Raferty , Foley and Byrne , 19-year-old Melody , Devers and goalkeeper Horgan, 20-year-old Keating. Galway will play at Dundalka on Friday and coach Dunne has no choice but send out a combined lineup today.
