    I really don't know how the bookies came up with the 84-point margin at the team from Latvia. Their average this season, VTB and the Latvian league combined, is just 77,7 points and just a bit over 73 in the VTB league. They went over it twice in the regional league - 83-84 against UNICS and 87 home against Saratov. Both games were irrelevant and cannot be compared with this one. Riga hit 78 against Kalev here a few days ago, 77 home against Minsk, 81 against Parma and 64 against Astana. That is when it comes to mid or bottom-table teams. They won the derby in Latvia against the defending champions 66-60 home. They hit 79 against Enisej in preseason. Also, this is a very important game.
    On the other hand, Enisej allow 82,3 on average in VTB and FIBA Europe Cup combined. They have 84,3 just in VTB which is greatly affected by productive home games (99-90 Kalev, 75-100 Zenit, 99-93 Novgorod). All of those were irrelevant games. Thsi Enisej played proper tough defense when necessary last season. This season, they are even more reliable when it comes to the defensive end.
    They allowed 100 in the debacle against UNICS, 66 against Lokomotiva, 79 against Parme, 72 against Himkija, 75 against Astane (98 with two overtimes) and 85 against CSKA away in the VTB league.
    Given that and how Riga play, I don't see the Latvians going over 85 points here. Details

    Slovakia's toughest team are obviously dropping. In the qualifications in the last two years - with some exceptions - they're achieving modest results. Before the end of the year they were on a tour in Hungary with a weak line-up without Szucs, Stranovski, Rabek, Kopca, Pekar, L Urban, all main players... Of course, Hungary crushed them with ten goals of difference, even the modest Bahrein beat them, and that was when they were a stronger line-up, when they had Antl, T. Urban, Petro, Duris, Mikita, Stochl on the goal... Do you know how many players from that modest, almost B line-up, came to the tour in Switzerland? None! This is some strange selection with only one Tatran player (Krok) and second goalkeeper Shejbal who defends in Switzerland. Here, being so modest, they showed nothing. The Swiss swept them off and were at 10-3 in the 20th minute, they went to 10 goals of difference and then pulled the handbrake. Brazil yesterday started with 7-1, escaped to 12-4, and then with half strength ended the match. Slovakia is very modest, especially in the offense, and the defeats would be even bigger had they not given their maximum to the defense and having goalkeeper Zernovic saving them with good defenses.
    Romania are, in a different trend. They recently installed a new coach, who was Barcelona's strategist, Pascual. His back is covered by the legendary Voica, they won in two respectable matches in the qualifications, and here they want to build up and progress. Pascual is after maximum seriousness, they have individuals who are class or two stronger than Slovakia - Popescu as the goalkeeper, Rambo, Csepreghi, Sandro, Fenici and the company in the back line... That's too much for such Slovakia and I don't doubt the final result will depend on the mercy of Romania, and considering the new coach and the progress he wants to see on such tours, I doubt that mercy will be big. Yesterday the Swiss, together with Portner and the defense, managed to stop them a bit, yesterday they had en equal match against Brazil, and they will sweep the floor with this "C"-team Slovakia...     Next to Real and Andorra, Fuenlabrada and Baskonia play the fastest basketball in Spain. Their games went over 180 and 205 points last year, and nothing changed significantly in their roster or game. What's interesting is that these two teams adjust to the opponent well. So, depending on who they play with, their total points change. Fuenlabrada went over the margin against Unicaja, Khimki, Bilbao twice, Alba and Murcia here - so teams who followed their running. When they hosted Barcelona, Valencia, Manresa or Lietuvos, they stayed under. An exception that confirms the rule could be their duel against Andorra - it stayed at 158 points because both teams had under 50% shots and played an awful third period where only 30 points was scored. Baskonia are almost identical when on the road. They went over this margin against Real, CSKA, Obradoiro, Joventut, Milano, Unics. They stayed under against tougher opponents like Panathinaikos, Zvezda or Žalgiris. The exceptions are the games against Betis who were missing half their team and got beaten 94-60, and Gran Canaria where the combined three-pointer shot was 10/45, something that's rarely seen. The exception on the other side is the 190 points' match against Valencia, only confirming Baskonia's fast game. Today, the only thing we can expect is a fast game. Popović, Hakansson, Rupnik and the rest of the great shooters on one, and Larkin, Prigioni and their guys on the other side - fast game is guaranteed. The stakes aren't that big in this game, so there's no pressure. It's just a league match at noon, and that should improve the game quality. If not at the level of those played last year, then at least for it to end over this margin. Details
