Granca have trouble controlling opposing point guards

Adams and James marked the first game, and the impression is that Granca do not have a player who can limit them. They can only compete with fast pace and equally as good offensive solutions

Gran Canaria went into the first game of this series with a lot of optimism, good form and great efficiency in away games this season. But not even that was enough against great Laboral, whom they will unlikely defeat away. It will be especially difficult if they are in good offensive form, like they were in the first game.

- It doesn't matter if you are losing by 5 or by 30 points. We cannot win a game with 26% of three pointer shots and we have to improve that. It is hard to play against Laboral because they have very fast and strong point guards in James and Adams and we have to control them better - said coach Reneses. 

Adams scored 24 points, while James added 11 and it seems that they will be a big problem for Gran Canaria in this series because their point guards, Oliver and Pangos, are not elite defenders and they will struggle against these two. Garcia Reneses will have to come up with some alternative ways to defend because some sort of takeover with Omic is not looking good.

Omic had a lot of problems in the paint as well, because Laboral wave, through Bourousis and Tillie, dominated the rebounds which Gran Canaria cannot allow today if they want to extend this series. Besides, their only win over Laboral this season was in a game in which they controlled the rebounds, but the timing of that game should be considered, becaue Laboral were not in the best form back then. 

Velimir Perasovic's team is now ready for a real game, and luckily, they can follow Gran Canaria's pace with rotations because Toko Shengelia returned after a long time. He did only play for three minutes in the first game, but he will be playing more as the play-off goes. 

Also helpful was appearance of newly acquired Michael Roll who scored only 2 points in 22 minutes, but he was decent in defense and he will be useful when he fits into Perasovic's system. 

- This was a typical play-off game with a lot of intensity and nervousness caused by a lot of mistakes and missed shots. I have commend my team, because we were focused, especially in the final moments when our performance was improving - said Perasovic. 

The best player in his team was Adams with 24 points and 4 assists and Bourousis who recorded 10 points with 12 rebounds. The two of them have been leading the team all season, and they will have to do the same today, because they have the most difficult duels against Pangos and Omic on the other side ahead of them. In this poke of players, it seems that no one can guard anyone and that is why they scored a lot of points in head-to-head games. 

Peras will not want to play a game without defenses, but the question is how much can he do in that aspect. In their last 13 away games, Laboral limited their opponents under 80 points only twice. That will be important to them today, but high pace is expected in today's game and it is hard to expect shot percentages as in the first game. The away team are missing Causeur and Blazic while the home team are complete.

Granca's coach, Aito Renses complains that you cannot win a game with 25% of three point shots. Well Laboral had 24% of three point shots in the first game and they still scored 81 points. There is a lot of room for improvement with them there as well. But the more important conclusion from that first game is that they do not have the players who can guard Perasovic's quick players Adams and Davis, and Bourosis in the paint is a higher level than Omic. And they do not have any offense when Kutxa is playing maximum defense. Granca have defeated the weak teams and lost to strong ones the entire season. If we only count in the games against Kutxa, Real, Barca, Unicaja and Valencia, Granca's record is 3-10. In the six league games against Barca, Real and Valencia they have 0-6 and all six defeats by 10 or more. That is no accident. On the other side we have Peras' machine which wonbig and important games at Real and Barcelona, who went to Athens and finished the Euroleague quarter-final series against Panathinaikos in an impressive way, and they will do the same with this quarter-final series. They reacted great in critical situations and they were one ball away from Euroleague final, so they cannot be inferior at Gran Canaria in this form. The Spaniard play the best of three series and no one wants to play the deciding game. Kutxa are capable of solving everything today. There is no dilemma about that.
