Gummersbach are been rather hot and cold the last few weeks. They had some injury problems (Nyokas, Bult, Kühn, Schindler, goalkeeper Puhle). Still, the ups and downs in their game are massive. They are capable of going on a 10-0 run against Magdeburg, beat Lemgo despite being decimated but also lose home to Leipzig, concede 37 to Goppingem who are in a big crisis... That Goppingen game was just in the last round. How will Gummersbach do today. Cpach Kurtagic probably doesn't know that either.

- We didn't do the way we can in defense - the coach said about Goppingen game. They will be without Puhle, Bult and Nyokas today which means both right backs are out. The young Baumgarten will spend some time on the right back. 

- Berlin are a top-level team. We need to play a focused game if we want to stand a chance - Kurtagic said. His team lost 7 out of the last 8 games, including both last season. It was 28-26 here.

Things won't be any easier for them today. Berlin are a better team than last year. They have just played their worst game in months - it was against Velenje in EHF Cup second leg game. Berlin managed to get through the group stage after a rather close call (Velenje had a -goal lead in the second half). 

- That's a disaster, we cannot go on like this - Strochl said after the 32-29 defeat. They managed to get through on account of the win in Velenje.

- The first half was a disaster. What I'm worried about the fact that didn't just happen against Velenje. It happened it Magdeburg and Lowen as well. We cannot keep on going like that. I normally don't say much but this time I had a lot to say in the locker room. It's not easy for Silvio and me when we have 19 shots from a 6-meter distance or fastbreaks.

That meeting took place last weekend which means they had the whole week to get things better. It's therefore realistic to expect a different approach by Fuchse today.

- We need to win in Gummersbach, not matter how we play. We need to defend the 4th spot - top scorer Nenadic said.

- The game we put up in the first half against Velenje cannot see us win.

They will be without right back Tonnesen, while the other leftie Wiede struggles with a painful shoulder. His surgery is scheduled for December 12th and we expect him on the team today.

- We need to play tough defense to get fastbreaks against Gummersbach. They play tough and compact defense and our attacks need to start with defense as well - Volker Zerbe said.
