Steaua's defense doesn't instill confidence

Villarreal managed to get better following a few slips at the start of the season. They are currently doing great

Steaua had high expectations from the trip to Ankara but they ended up losing to Osmanlispor in the first round. The home team took lead 64 minutes into the game from a penalty kick and Steaua couldn't make a comeback. They played three Romanian championship games after that are recorded 6 points. They are currently sitting top table, 3 more ahead of the runner-ups. 

Steaua beat Voluntari over the weekend. That game has caused a lot of concern with coach Reghecampf, despite the fact they won it:

- We conceded two ridiculous goals. This time we got away but that kind of defense would see us drop points against Villarreal. I expect my players to be much more serious. I hope the fans will help us stun this big Spanish team. 

They will be without Luciano Filip and Pintili, two players who have been out with injuries for a while now. 

It's too bad Escriba hasn't taken over at Villarreal earlier on. If he had, we would have probably watched their Champions League games now. Garcia Toral left with just days left until the new season and Escriba simply didn't have enough time. But as the time goes by, Villarreal are getting more impressive. They got 10 points in the last 4 games and recorded the only draw in Madrid against Real. They also opened Europa League well with a 2-1 win over Zurich. 

Spanish teams often put Europa League on the back burner but Escriba sees it differently:

- Winning the championship isn't as easy for us as it is for Steaua. That is why we take this competition seriously. Getting is trophy here is easier than in Spain. There will be no holding back. I don't want a draw. I respect the opponents. They opened badly but they have quality and will want to win this home. Be that as it may, I expect them to be cautious and not taking risk easily. They will wait for our mistakes. 

Escriba hasn't been able to count on two important forwards Soldado and Bakamba from the start of the season. However, that hasn't been an unsolvable problem so far.
