Tonight Benfica are hosting the famous opponents from Portugal's first league Belenenses. Benfica didn't do the pre-season as they should have, they're missing six first-team players. Thus they lost the pre-season cup. That's one of the reasons how much Benfica have problems with their offensive efficiency without their main players. Next to these absences, a few players are struggling with injuries. Belenenses, on the other hand, are classical Portuguese, with granite defense and not too much philosophy in the offense. That's confirmed by their goal-difference in last season. Only 60 recorded goals and 96 allowed. An average of 5,5 goals per match. Last season Benfica beat the away team in both head-to-heads; 5-1 at home and 0-3 away.

This season Benfica "filled up" in critical positions, while Belenenses changed their line-up a lot. The fact that things still haven't settled with Belenenses shows the 7-0 defeat by Sporting, and 3-0 against second-league Portela. On the other hand, Benfica are still missing their players, and not once did they cross this margin against more "serious" opponents in the pre-season (Quinta dos Lombos 4-1, Futsal Dinamo 1-0, Leoes Porto Salvo 2-3), but they want to wash out the bitter taste of the cup loss, and they won't allow Belenenses win points. I expect a tough match, full of tempo.
