Kotwica are the hosts of the pre-season tournament where they will face Koszalin today. Kotwica were in the Polish third division two season ago, they finished last season as 9th in the second division. They haven't gone through big changes over the Summer, they kept their coach and all key players. They played 4 games so far in the pre-season, first against third-division side MKS Sokol and won 74-70 (27-33 1st half), after that they lost at home to second division side Poznan (8th last season) 74-90 (40-42), at Spojine (5th last season) they lost 79-92 (39-47). Their last test was against German third division side Rostock Seawolves and lost 66-86. In that last game they couldn't count on their third best scorer Przyborowski, top scorer Bodych, 4th Pawlowski and 6th Dzierzak. They had only 8 players on the roster.
Koszalin are a first division team, they finished 14th last season, they were no convincing and it makes sense that they changed their coach over the Summer. Dariusz Szczubial took over the club, he already led many teams in Poland, and his teams mostly play fast. He changed their roster in comparison to last season, acquired 4 Americans, several experienced Poles from other first division clubs (Dioniak, Jeszke, Mlynarski, Chatkevicius). They started the pre-season in Torun and defeated Trefl 107-106, then lost Polpharma 90-106. After that lost at home 84-90 to Asseco and in the last test lost 84-86 to Rostock. They have no injury problems, Szczubial is not giving up on his run-and-gun tactics. They probably didn't need the loss to Rostock, but they made a lot of tactical decision in that game, decided to give a chance to Polish players, while the foreigners who played more in earlier games got less playing time.
