Venus displayed great progress against Wang when it came to footwork. You might think that she didn't have to have good footwork against Wang in the first place but the reality is a bit different. The young Yafan played a good match, approached the net quite a lot and played aggressively. Cornet should do similarly since her shots don't have much power either. Cornet was the inferior played in her match against Shvedova to advance through to QF only because of Shvedoa's ridiculous mistake. Venus will get a lot of break points on Cornet's second serve. The American needs two more wins to reach the Singapore WTA Finals, she is very motivated and simply has too many strengths here. Cornet lost all 4 H2H matches (her greatest achievement is 7 games from one of those matches). Since Cornet is doing badly in Hong Kong, the handicap at Venus seems like a really good idea.
