She was knocked out in the first round at AO and said she needs more matches afterwards. That is why she's in Russia this week. She is to face Cibuklova for the 13th time today. The Danish player is 9-3 in head-to-head matches so far but they haven't met in four years. Cibulkova knocked out Rodina yesterday (0-4 this season), but that match is not even close to this one

St. Petersburg did a great job this year. The draw is full of great players, a lot of whom aim for the title here, especially top seeds. Wozniacki is, of course, one of them:

- I would like ti win this tournament and that is why I'm here.

But, Wozniacki originally didn't play to come here. She changed that plan after a surprising first round defeat to Puntintseva at AO.

- I needed more matches right now and that's why I'm here - the Dane said and then commented on her defeat in Australia.

- I felt really well in preseason. I tried doing my best but I just didn't have luck. It's sports and you need to know how to deal with it.

She was handed a great honor by the Danish Olympic Committee a few days ago. It was decided that she would carry the Danish flag at the opening of Rio Olympics. That wold be a great honor for any player and Wozniacki said that it will be a dream come true for her. 

She is to face Cibulkova in the second round match. Cibulkova and her met a lot of times but never once in the last 4 years. Woznaicki won the last three meetings but Cibulkova got a set in two of those. Their last match took place in Moscow 4 years ago. 

Wozniacki and Cibulkova both reached one semifinal at season start. Wozanicki lost to the first serious opponent (Stephens) and then lost to Putintseva in Melbourne.  Cibulkova, on the other hand, has 6 wins but a third of them are against Birrell. The last, sixth win, was over Rodina here. Rodina is 0-4 this season. 

- I'm healthy and looking forward to meeting Wozniacki - Cibulkova said after the win over Rodina, who simply didn't have a solution for the opponent's game. She had only 4 winners, compared to 22 unforced errors. Cibulkova, on the other hand, had a 19-16 winners-errors record, which is why she won easily.
