A big chance for both players

Neither Siegemund nor Siniakova have a WTA title. Siegemund might have a small advantage because she played Stuttgart final this year, and this is Siniakova's first final on this level. Also, Siegemund spent much less time on the court this week compared to Siniakova

Siegemund beat Georges to get to her second clay-court final this year. She didn't lose a set in her first three matches here, and Georges did, the first every time. Georges won the first set in the semifinal, but that was all she could do. She came back from 0-3 to 2-3 in the second set, but only won one game altogether after that. She asked for medical help in the third, and played one more game after that, but then decided to retire (the official reason was her hip).

- It was really hard, Georges was strong in the first set - Siegemund commented, but she used the fact that Georges couldn't keep up physically after that.

- I was trying to be firm at the beginning, but that wasn't enough. She played better at first and I needed time to adjust, to make my game stronger. I felt good on the court, confident in trying to take more risks, and follow my hits.

Siniakova started her way towards the final in the qualifiers. She spent over 11 hours on the court in this tournament, with two doubles matches. She faced Larsson in the semis, the title defender. Both left a great impression with their return hits this week, and yesterday as well. Larsson had 14 break-points, and used three. Siniakova 15 with six used. It was expected that Siniakova might have physical problems later on in the match (like Georges had), but Larsson was the one who asked for help by the end of the first set (back/hip).

- I left too many easy hits today and didn't use my chances. I also felt stiff in my hip area, but I can't use that excuse. She played really well - Larsson pointed out, and Siegemund commented on her own game, and also her first WTA final ever:

- I was trying to focus on every ball. I was a bit nervous at start, made a few mistakes even, but later on my performance was getting better. It's really exciting to be in the final, it's going to be a difficult match, but I hope we're both going to show a great game. I think I'm going to be nervous, but that's normal.

Neither Siegemund nor Siniakova got a title so far in their careers. Siegemund might have a small advantage because she played Stuttgart final this year, and this is the first final Siniakova is playing on this level. Also, she played a lot of matches this week. Larsson didn't know how to take advantage of that, and she had her own issues, but she reacted badly tactics-wise. Siegemund will definitely be more aggressive and Siniakova won't be able to play as aggressively as she did against Larsson.
