Caroline Wozniacki - Agnieszka Radwanska (4:6 2:6)

Agnieszka missed out on the 6-4 5-3 lead last week

  • Published:

The Dane is playing the sixth day in a row and shows signs of fatigue, and she's aware this might be a marathon. They played for three hours last week

Radwanska

Even though she had two defeats and a thriller win against Makarova in their last three duels, she was convincing this time. The Russian's aggressive game didn't pay, and the Polish only had five unforced mistakes.

- It's always good to start the tournament with a win as convincing as this one, especially because I had a tricky draw - Agnieszka said and turned to the next duel:

- We always play good matches, so I definitely don't expect a short day in the office. We just played three hours in Tokyo and it's realistic to expect another long fight, I just hope that this time, I will be the one who wins.

Wozniacki

Her score is 12-1 since US Open, and it seems that the title in Tokyo only boosted her confidence. However, playing day after day is taking a toll and Wozniacki is showing signs of fatigue. She played the match against Siniakova on autopilot, and that was enough.

- I have problems with the left thigh muscle at times and it can be frustrating, but minor injuries are always there throughout most of the matches - Wozniacki commented on her bandaged leg and then on her new duel with Radwanska:

- We have known each other for 15 years, so there's no secretes. We both know what to expect, we both know how we have to play, so it all comes down to who better does it on the court.

She was losing 6-4 5-3 to Radwanska last week, and then turned the match around. This is her sixth day in a row playing, and the question is whether she has the strength and mental freshness for another possible thriller.
