Monaco missed most of the season because of injuries and lots of problems, but coming back, it was obvious he wasn't completely there, there was no aggressiveness that used to be his trademark of sorts. He managed to get the trophy in Houston, the only mention worthy success.

Still, he showed signs of his old qualities. Moriya didn't even get to warm up, and he was already forced to shake the Argentinian's hand over the net. Monaco didn't show mercy, and the Japanese only won three games.

- I'm enjoying being on the courts again. I missed a long period because of the injury, I haven't been playing for about seven months, and now I really don't feel pressure anymore. I believe this will help me to play better in the rest of the tournament - Monaco felt victorious.

The new challenges might help him come on top of the DC coach's picks for the final that Argentina will be playing.

Lopez

The Spaniard didn't leave much of an impression lately, except for a few tournaments with a humble competition. He didn't get many good win. True, he was clever about his schedule and careful when picking where to play.

But, his ATP performances were far from ideal. He got beaten in the second round of Cincinnati and US Open. He played his last match for Spain in the DC, beating Ramanathan. Despite all of this, he still managed to stay in the Top 30.

It's interesting that this is a duel of the players who played the doubles together, and were beaten in the first round. There can be no secrets because they played each other eight times. Lopez was the more successful of the two, 5-3, but their only hardcourt duel was won by Monaco, but in 2007, so that was ages ago. This is going to be an extremely interesting duel between two players who know each other very well.
