Radwanska: I'm playing the best player of this year

She is trying to get the pressure off by saying she has nothing to lose today. Kerber is the only player who went into the semis with three wins. She said that there will be no shortage of long rallies in this match

The German didn't have the spot in the semis secured ahead of the last day. Not even with two wins. But then Cibulkova beat Halep in the first match which made Kerber a semifinalist. The match with Keys became unimportant but she did a good job in it regardless, recording a straight sets win. 

- I knew that I was in the semis but I always go out there wanting to win. I tried not thinking about the fact I was in the semis - Kerber said. She clearly didn't want to lose the winning run. 

- It doesn't matter who I play, what the result is like and what the situation is like. I learned a lot over the past few months. I always do my best. I know how to play matches like this one. I have much more experience now compared to last season when I played my last Singapore match. 

Kerber put focus on herself for the most part of the season rather than on who ever was on the other side of the court. She says that is one of the most important improvements she made this season. 

- I am now a player with a Grand Slam title and I'm No. 1. Of course, I believe in my game. It all comes down to confidence and believing in your game. If that is high, the opponent on the other side becomes less important - the German said and added:

- I know Radwanska very well and I think we'll have to play some really long rallies.

Radwanska

Radwanska beat Kvitova and Muguruza to earn the title last season after struggling at the beginning. This season, she opened Singapore with a defeat as well but went on to beat Muguruza and Pliskova in straight sets. Both of those players had a chance in the openers but as the matches went on, neither had an answer to Radwanska's game.

- I'm very happy to have played well in key moments. I had to wait and pray for her to stop hitting so many first serves - the Pole said .

This is her 3rd straight (4 overall) WTA Finals semifinal.

- I have nothing to lose, especially because I'm playing the top player of this season. She has been doing incredible this season on all surfaces. I hope I can get even better than today - the Pole said. 

Not counting the exhibition late last season (the Pole won in straight sets), Radwanska is 6-5 in head-to-head matches. They met once in the Finals. It was three years ago when Radwanska won in straight sets in the group stage. They played just three matches since, both last season. Kerber won on Stanford hard courts in three sets and Radwanska won in straight sets in Beijing.
