Just like at Indian Wells, here in Miami she played the qualifications for two years, and now she was free at the opening as one of the seeds. At Indian Wells she was stopped by Peng, a Chinese who is back among Top 40. On paper it definitely wasn't a result fling, but play-wise it was. Konjuh had 4-2 in the first set, and then by the end of the match she remained at only two games...

Konjuh's record against Flipkens is 2-0. The first win came from the national team match indoors in 2015, and the second this year in the first match of the season for both players. Konjuh won in both with three sets.

This season Konjuh was defeated six times, and all defeats cape from Top 40 players.

After beating Brady, she pointed out that hadn't been her best level, but she's happy she won in a match in which she had to face with a match-point. Brady was the more aggressive player, she won 70% of points after the first serve, but she remained at 50% of throw-ins. At the 10th game of the third set on the return she didn't save the mentioned match-point.
