Both teams are entering the match with a Cup loss behind them, but the atmosphere among the Hibernians is much worse. In a tough, close game Motherwell lost to Aberdeen, probably the second best tam of the league, by conceding two goals in the last seven minutes, and the players hardly have anything to feel ashamed about. The Hibs, on the other hand, enter this match with a very bad atmosphere. It is never pleasant to lose to your biggest rival, especially not in a home knockout game in front of a full arena. The fans are not happy, the Hearts have beaten them for the second time this season, and after losing to Aberdeen last weekend, coach Fenlon decided to leave. There can be no talk of a positive change as the Hibs have not brought in a new coach yet, and as goalie Marshall said, the players are not too sure of their future either. Well are rather OK at home this season, after losing to Aberdeen in their first home game they won the next four straight. Hibernian won only one of their last eight mutual matches, with Motherwell victorious at Easter Road earlier this season, as well as in thier last two duels last season. Apart from that, the home team are in full strength, while the away team are once again missing a few important players on the defense, with everything pointing at a win for Motherwell.
