Coach Page starts with the victory

Munich's new coach Pierre Page, the winner of the title with Eisbaren and Salzburg, opened his Munich adventure with a nice victory over Hamburg

After it finished the last year's season at the last place, the DEG entered the new one even worse. The first game in Krefeld showed that it is facing a long season. Although the host played without its best player Vasiljevs and a couple of other standard players, it defeated the unconvincing Dusseldorf team without any problems.

The game has been already determined in the first seven minutes. This is how much it took for Krefeld to reach a 3-0 lead. In the 13th minute Daniel Fischbuch reduced it to 1-13, but this was all DEG managed to do. Until the end of the game it received two more goals, but was saved from the actual catastrophe  by the goalkeeper Bobby Goepfert with 36 saves. The lack of quality was attempted to be replaced by fanatical fighting, but because of it there were 10 expulsions that the host punished with additional two goals.

- We played aggressive, but not a smart match. I warned the players to the fouls from behind and that they would be sanctioned. I hope they learned a few lessons and will not repeat the same mistakes - said DEG's coach Christian Brittig.

The Dusseldorf team misses a lot the injured offensive duo Ashton Rome and Daniel Kreutzer. It is waiting for the dangerous Munich team tonight without them.

Munich missed the playoff last year, but this season's appearance has almost no connection to it. It brought the new tropheyed coach Pierre Page and almost completely changed the team. The new sponsor Red Bull invested a lot of money and now the results are to be expected from the team. On Friday it opened the season well. The well-reputed Hamburg was completely overshadowed. Only realization was lacking. Although Munich had two times more strikes towards a goal (46-23), the game finished with the result 2-2 (the scorers were Andrew Wozniewski and John DiSalvatore). However, the justice arrived in the overtime, when Ryan Duncan brought the second point to Munich with his goal in the 39th second.

- We have played an excellent game. Perhaps we earned all three points, but it's good this way, too. We are a new team, still in development, and with a lot of reserve - said Munich's satisfied new coach Pierre Page.

Now the good result has to be confirmed in Dusseldof. DEG is a much more modest team than Hamburg and should it play like on Friday, it will be close to the new victory. 

DEG is the youngest and the weakest team in the league. After Ridderwall and Turnbull left and Romeo and Kreutzer got injured their attack has completely disappeared while they also struggle defensively. On Friday they lost 1-5 and their best player was their goalie Goepfert. Munchen, on the other hand, is bursting with confidence after a win over Hamburg. The visitors are a much better team and I am sure they will continue their win streak tonight.
