Petersson questionable at Lowen, Flensburg possibly without 6 players

A slap in the face from Vardar is still not forgotten about even though Lowen spent more time lamenting Guardiola's injury than the failure that match was. Since the draw was favorable, pairing them up with Szeged, Vardar will soon be forgotten.

- I really couldn't know how our defense would do without Gedeon and Alez but I liked in the 6-0 formation. Kneer and Du Rietz deserve a lot of praise - coach Jacobsen said after the 35-25 win over bottom-table Bietigheim even though the final goal-difference should have been higher because they had the 34-20 lead at one point. Kiel started winning by 15-20 points and the two-team race for the title is back on.

There are a lot of games to be played till the end, among them the head-to-head match in Kiel. It is very important for Jacobsen to see how the 5-1 defense with Uwe up front and Kneer on the line will respond. Bietigheim is no measure of quality but it did provide Lowen with some answers. Especially because Petersson didn't play with a stiff neck. Even though it sounds like it, the situation isn't benign and the Danish coach said he hopes Petersson will be ready. The local media report that he might miss the derby match for which 12,000 tickets have been sold. Kiel are two point ahead and Lowen have no choice but to win this. They will have the great clash with Kiel next week in the Cup quarterfinals and those two games are Lowen's great test ahead of the key part of the season.

- Both of those games are different to the one we had with Bietigheim. We'll know where our defense stands at after Saturday - Lowen's coach said. I would not agree with it much because Flensburg's offense isn't top-level and might fool Lowen before giving them a proper idea of their level ahead of the Kiel game.

Jacobsen has Myrhol back, which is very important for offense, especially since Guardiola is out.

- I've rested a lot of players against Bietigheim. Du Rietz didn't play offense for almost the entire second half and that matters given the games to come.

Flensburg clearly struggle with attacking and with Landin in top form and good defense performance by Lowen, Flensburg could easily end up limited to 22-23 goals, which should be enough for a win. Lowen won the first head-to-head 29-26, last season they won 29-22 home and lost in Hamburg at Cup finals 30-26. 

Flensburg are decimated but that doesn't mean they can't be dangerous. They beat Lubeccke 25-21 Wednesday with 16 saves by Andersson, 6 goals by Eggert (one seven-meter throw), 5 by Nenadic and Jakobsson, and 4 by El Ahmar. Coach Vranjes couldn't count on Gottfridssona, Glandorfa, Heinla, Mogensena, Kaufmanna and Svan Hansena. Five of those are starters.

- I like it how Nenadic and Jakobsson took responsibility in the last few games - Vranjes said. He is using even his assistant Machulla at the middle back position. 

- He's been through a lot, he can play on routine. But we need to support Nicolaisen, Macke and El Ahmar in the best possible way since they don't have that much Bundesliga experience - Karlsson said.

Gottfridsson, Glandorf and Heinl are out, Hansen should play, while things aren't clear regarding Mogesen and Kufmann. There's some chance that Kaufmann will be fit, but Mogesen is most likely to miss the game.

- We'll do our best - play good defense and fight all the way - Machulla said.
