Different atmospheres with the two Galician rivals

Celta remain undefeated this season after a draw with Atletico in Madrid. The visiting team, on the other hand, have been badly defeated to Real Madrid home over the weekend. A good result in the derby would heal most of those wounds

Celta and Depotivo's meetings are the great derby matches of the Spanish autonomous region Galicia. Much more than three points are at stake here. Celta, today's home team, are in high spirits following a draw they recorded against Atletico in Madrid. That game came as a proof of Celta's excellent form after the first four undefeated rounds. They have more than enough reason for hoping to continue the good streak because the A Coruna rivals are not doing well at the moment.

Deportivo faced another giant from Madrid over the weekend, but with quite a different outcome. They met Real home and saw nothing but demolition by the Madrid-based club. It was 8-2 for Madrid in the end. Coach Victor Fernandez, however, concluded that his team was not that bad compared to the opponent.

Considering both team's performances up to date, the home team are clearly the favorite. But, coach Eduardo Berizzo s trying to turn the tables:

- I don't think we're the favorite at Balaidos, and I don't think we should feel like we are. We've had a good game, but what made me happy after that game was the approach, the maturity, and the capacity with which we dealt with the best. We are hoping to win, of course, and we won't be lacking motivation for this game. It's not just another championship round, the preparation is a bit special, but we'll try and do it the best we can.

Celta can now count on Augusto Fernandez, who wasn't on the team this weekend. He's going to be in the line-up today, just like Nolito. The top Celta's forward didn't play over the weekend either in order to rest for the derby. According to the information available, he's will be in the line-up today instead of Pablo Hernandez. Hernadez scored that spectacular opener against Atletico, but still isn't Berizzo's first choice. The rest of the line-up should more or less be made up of the players from the game at Vicente Calderon. Borja Oubina is still out.

Visiting team's Juan Dominguez tried to come up with reasons for his team's optimism:

- Celta are doing very well, but they're definitely not invincible. I don't know whether this is their top form, but it's certainly good. They have a good team based on the players who were here last season. I don't see the reason for us to be written off despite of their undefeated record. What happened against Real is now in the past, and there's no sense in dwelling on it. We should fix the mistakes and move on. A good result in this derby match would be the best way.

Deportivo can't count on Pablo Insua, Diogo Salomao, and Lucas Perez again. There was some trouble with Dominguez, but the media list him as one of the starters today.

Like it or not, a defeat in which you concede 8 goals will leave a mark on you. Of course this is not the only reason why I will bet on Celta, but it definitely is one of them.
To begin with, I have to admit I did not expect much from Celta. They had a good start of last season but their miracle worker Luis Enrique Martinez left Vigo for Barcelona and was replaced by Eduardo Berizzo, a less-renowned coach whose biggest achievement was leading O`Higgins in the Chilean league and Celta were expected to fail. However, Berizzo kept their concept from last year and upgraded it with his philosophy. Under his guidance, Celta is more-or-less the same team from last year but with more aggression. Their starting fixtures brought teams like Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid but Celta managed to pull through. In fact, they were up by 2-0 against Sociedad at home and conceded an equalizer in injury time. Deportivo have four points, but their first point came at home against Rayo with an equalizer from a penalty well into injury time, while their win in Eibar came from a strange game in which Deportivo were completely outplayed and got a lucky win.
Since this is a huge local derby, I don`t expect the hosts to give any freebies. Deportivo have fared well in Vigo recently but those were some different times. Deportive have just been promoted from La Segunda and will face a hard battle to avoid relegation. Celta might even get European spots this season. Since this is a derby and there is a huge difference in quality I will go for Celta`s win with an Asian -1 handicap. If Celta win by 1 goal, the stake is void, while the bet goes through if they win by 2 goals.
