The Germans still struggling

  • Published:

New Georgia's coach Tskhadadze started his run with a win, but Malta can hardly be compared to Germany. The Germans are still struggling and can't find a winning formation and/or lineup

The first match Kakhaber Tskhadadze lead for Georgia ended with a success. They defeated Malta in a friendly match by scoring two goals in the last ten minutes on Wednesday. But that outcome was a bit tricky, they dominated the whole time and it's a wonder they didn't score even more.

- We knew it won't be easy against an opponent who defend themselves with all ten players behind the ball the whole time, and do that well, but in the end, I think we deserved our win, even though it took us a bit more time to score the first goal than planned. Either way, this is far from showing what we really can do, and I believe we'll play better in the forthcoming matches - Tskhadadze commented.

The Georgian coach announced the qualification duel against Germany by saying there won't be any significant changes in the starting eleven, and he definitely gave up on the midfielder Ananidze whose injury proved to be more serious than it seemed at first. The home team's chances are only symbolic on paper, but no match has ever been solved before it began, and that's what Tskhadadze is relying on.

- We won't give up upfront, we'll fight till the end and I'm sure we'll have our bright moments. We plan to use some of the tactic we used against Malta again tonight. I want us to show progress compared to the previous matches, I can see the guys are optimistic and it's a sign that we did a good job this past week. If we'd manage to stop the world's champions, nobody would be happier than us.

We talked about how the German coach Low is struggling with finding the ideal lineup before they faced Australia, and that he's thinking about using three players in the backline. That's what he tried to use against the Australians, and it didn't look good. The defense leaked everywhere, and it was only thanks to Podolski's late goal that they managed to avoid getting completely embarrassed by being beat by a much weaker opponent.

- Nothing happens overnight, and we won't get all the gears in the new team set up that easily. It's an ongoing process - the German coach said, but then announced a win in today's duel:

- It's an imperative, and we have to get it. We lost too many points in these qualifications already. We don't want to be in the top of the group, we want to be the first.

In his defense, it could be said he didn't use all his best players against Australia. Hummels, Muller, Kroos and Schweinstiger all sat that one out, and all four of them will start today.

The defender Badstuber and the offensive player Bellarabi are out due to injuries and sicknesses. But, there's plenty of great substitutes for them. The only question is whether the mildly injured Mustafi or Howedes will start instead of Badstuber.

There were plenty rumors about the German's lineup today, and it seems the most likely formation they'll use is 3-1-4-2. True, the Georgians will probably bunker up, so that formation could be modified on the field.
