PAOK continue the fight for the third place at the end of the regular part of the championship. At the moment, they have the same ratio as their city rival Aris, who's got 2-0 in the matches played against them, which means advantage. However, Aris have to face the best teams in the last five rounds, and PAOK's schedule is much easier, which is an advantage on their side.

PAOK got a routine win last week, in an away match against Panelefsiniakos, thanks to a great start. They were leading 39-21 after the first 20 minutes, completely closing off the best players in the opponent team, and then calmly controlling the match till the end. The offensive game was far from brilliant, PAOK had 4/18 three-pointers, and coach Markopoulos definitely couldn't be happy about 21/35 free throws. If those numbers were better, that win could have been much bigger.

- We knew we'd play against a team who are fighting to stay in the first league, and we expected it to be tough. We scored some easy points in the first half-time, and made good decisions in the second, which helped us keep the difference. We needed this win after those few bad results we had lately, but also to keep our goals alive - Markopoulos said.

They'll definitely be motivated today, Apollon are one of the teams who beat PAOK in the championship so far. PAOK were completely outplayed in that match, they were even losing by 20 at one point, so Markopoulos is aware that his team won't have it easy today, neither. However, the fact that this duel will be played in Solun changes a lot, even the best teams have a hard time winning on this court. 

- Apollon are a quality team, it's no accident they're in the Cup final, so we'll need to fully focus from the first second - Dedas stated.

Apollon aren't coming to Solun in their best mood. They were defeated with a double-digit difference in the last three duels. They got the win against Kolossos thanks to the Alliance's decision, which made things a bit easier. It helped Apollon get two wins advantage over the ninth-placed Kifisia.

They lost a direct duel for the sixth place last week, which lead to losing an easier lot in the quarterfinal, if they get that far. They only scored 56 against Rethymno, a continuation of their problems with scoring when they create a chance. The only worse offense is Panionios's, and Apollon didn't score over 70 in the last five.

- They were much better than us from the first second. I think we're not playing as confidently as we did a week ago, and it shows. Our goal is to get placed to the playoffs, I don't think we can think about the sixth place anymore. We have to turn to the next matches, and see how to find the game we played a few weeks ago - coach Vetouals was aware of their problems.

Things won't be simple today. PAOK will face the third best defense of the league. Solun is a tough place to be seeking a way out of the crisis, but an advantage is that Apollon won't be burdened with the role of the favorite here. It will be another test of the teams' characters. Apollon will have to play a good defense first of all if they want to succeed, because with their current scoring form, against an opponent like this one, they can hardly try to win with 75-80 points conceded.

- They've got 2-3 players who we have to pay special attention to, they're leading their game. If we can limit them, I think we have a chance to win. We have to play the defense the way we can, impose our rhythm and stay focused for the entire 40 minutes - Georgallis announced the match.
