N.Y. Rangers - Montreal (5:0)

Montreal in top form

  • Published:

The Habs celebrated in Boston last night, while the Rangers didn't play on Friday because of the snow in Buffalo, and will definitely be more rested in this game

The New York Rangers were supposed to play on Friday in Buffalo, but it was cancelled because the snow. So, let's take a look at their last game when they celebrated on the Madison Square Garden 2-0 against Philadelphia. That win ended their series of three defeats.

The goalies played the main role in that match. Even though the Flyers' goalie Steve Mason had 33 saves, Cam Talbot helped his team win with 31 saves. The first goal scorer was Kevin Klein at the beginning, and Rick Nash scored for the final result in the second period powerplay.

- I didn't really contribute much to the team this season, so I'm glad to see I was finally an important factor in a win - Cam Talbot said.

The Rangers definitely used the little rest they got, especially before the match against Montreal who seem really powerful.

The only player the Rangers can't rely on is the defenseman Ryan McDonagh, the captain.

Montreal continue playing great this season, and after a defeat against Pittsburgh, which was a really bad day for the Habs, they got two big wins. First they defeated the mighty St.Louis at home, and then Boston in the away game yesterday, for the third time this season. Today, they're going to have another tough match.

First they left the Blues with only one goal, and yesterday, they left Boston without goals in the away game, so we can only praise Montreal's game lately. Even though they were outshot in Boston by about ten hits, they managed to win thanks to the great goalie Price who was top class and had a shutout. Markov and Plekanec scored the goals. Montreal set up the game better and deserved to win.

Montreal won seven out of 10 away games this season, a great statistic, and they confirmed once again they're one of the biggest favorites of the East. This is a rerun of the conference finals last season. The Rangers passed through to the big finals then, but they're not on the same level this season, and showed a lot less than Montreal for sure.

Montreal are much more convincing than the Rangers this season, they're the leading team of the East conference, and have eight wins in the last nine games. They're coming to New York in a great form. Dustin Tokarski will tend Montreal's goal today because Price did it yesterday, and this is the second game in two days.

The only one missing is the unimportant forward Bournival.
