The Warriors keep on destroying opponents

  • Published:

The Californian team are on an 8-game winning run, crushing their opponents by an average of 19.0 points. A win tonight would make them the No.1 seed in the West

Even though they seem unconvincing the past few weeks, the Bucks are still on the road towards the playoffs, which is a great achievement for a team that had only 15 wins last season. After managing to stay close to the top team for the most part of the season Jason Kidd's team got into a crisis that started with the swap (Knight left, MCW joined). The crisis stopped their from making progress in the table which allowed a whole bunch of teams to catch up.

After losing 13 out of 16 games, including 6 in a row, the Bucks managed to beat Heat home 89-88 after a lot of struggle. The game that took place two days later was not better when they barely managed to get past the Pacers 111-107. The Bucks had a 34-11 lead late in the first quarter and Ilyasova did brilliantly by adding 17 of those 34 points. But the visitors from Indianapolis didn't give up and went on bringing the deficit down to open the last 6 minutes tied with the Bucks. At 110-107, the visitors had a shot that would have seen them equalize but luckily for the Bucks, Goerge Hill missed it.

- We had a great lead and lost it. But we kept on fighting and got rewarded for it. I think this was a good lesson for us - coach Kidd said after his team won the game in which they had field goal efficiency of 53.4%, including the 9-for-19 three point record.

Ilyasova scored team-high 34 points, with a brilliant 12-for-14 record from the floor and 6 rebounds.

- Sometimes you have a day like this one - the Turk said. He's been averaging 20.8 points and 8.4 rebounds in the last 5 games.

- He was aggressive, taking shots and it worked - coach Kidd said.

Middleton was the second best scorer with 17 points (6-for-12) while Antetokounmp added 16. Antetokounmp has been averaging 17.5 points and 7.9 rebounds in the last 10 games, with 52.4 shooting from the floor.

The Bucks will need a lot of efficient players today as they meet the top team of the league. Golden State are on an 8-game winning run, during which they are beating their opponents by an average of 19.9 points. The Warriors already secured a spot in the playoffs, as well as their first Division title in 39 years. If they win tonight, they will set the new club record in wins and secure the top seed status in the West. They got one step away from all of that thanks to the easy win over the Grizzlies last night (107-84).

- We are playing crazy defense. We are focusing on the ball and sharing it around. It's a pretty simple formula. Following it through is not easy but our guys are doing it pretty well - coach Kerr said.

It's easier when you have players like Klay Thomspon, who recorded 28 points last night (10-for-17), with 6-for-9 in three pointers. Stephen Curry was even better with 38 points (12-for-22) and 10 assists, with 8-for-12 three point shooting.

Curry's been averaging 34.0 points in the last 5 games (31-for-54 three pointers) but the has recorded an average of only 16.0 points with field goal efficiency of 31.4% at the  Bradley Center. The Bucks limited the Splash Borthers to 11/32 shooting from the floor earlier this month but Green destroyed them with 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Warriors into a 102-93 win.
