Opponents that were in a media war ahead of the season

Omsk are not as good as they were last year. Just when they managed to settle the debt for their top player Carrillo, she got injured. Volero lost Mihajlovic after the first round, but definitely still have better choice than the opponents

Omsk will try and use this match to get on the winning track in the Champions League after losing to Turkish Eczacibasi in three sets in the season opener home. Last year, Omsk were knocked out of the competition as they were just a step away from the Final Four, just like Volero. The aforementioned Eczacibasi saw to it, and Omsk are not as good as they were last season. The smaller budget is the number one reason for it. Volero and Omsk were in a media war ahead of the season over the debt for Carrilo who moved to Omsk on loan. Since Omsk didn't pay what was agreed, Volero stopped Mihajlovic from joining the Russian team. 

Mihajlovic started the season at Volero in the end to lead her team with 16 points to a win over Wroclaw in the first round. It was her first and last match for Volero in Champions League since he left for the Japanese Hisamitsu Springs right after it. Volero lost a good player and won't be as good without her. But, we need to say that Mihajlovic was not part of their plans for this season anyway.

- This opening game against Wroclaw was very important. We wanted to find rhythm. We need to go on like this, focus on our next game with Omsk. The Group is very tough this season, we need each and every point we can get - assistant coach Lindenmair said.

Volero didn't do brilliantly as they met Neuchatel the last championship round. They did win in three sets, but the opponents were very close for 2 and half. They left for Russia on Tuesday to be met by snow and cold. Substitute libero Hagglund and substitute receiver Unternahrer, both of whom played last round, won't be here (besides Mihajlovic). Mammadova and Nyukhalova stepped in and Swiss international receiver Granvorka was given a spot in on the list of 12 players. Setter Antonijevic is still out with injury.

Omsk finally paid the debt for Carillo, only for her to get injured after playing only one match. She's not on the team today and important receiver Kurilo might be out as well. She missed the last Russian championship game with a knee injury as her team recorded a defeat to Dynamo Moscow, another Russian club participating in the Championship League.  Kurilo will be on the team, but coach Terzic might not give her any time in the game.

- We didn't have two very important players to count on today. We wanted to play better, but couldn't - Babesina said after the defeat in Moscow.

Coach Terzic was not happy with his team's performance in that game, saying it was very bad. That game took place six days ago and Terzic wasn't left with too much time to fix the things that didn't work. He doesn't have a lot of players to count on this year and isn't left with too much choice for a change when things go south. That is precisely what Volero can do and will do it this match. Omsk trust the home court and fans support, as per usual.
