Krasnodar cautious about the second leg match with Novara

The Russians have already proved themselves in Italy, and should be able to confirm that home. But since Novara's form is improving, the favorite from Krasnodar don't want to get ahead of themselves

Dynamo Krasnodar won the first make in Italy two weeks ago to take a huge step towards the second round. After losing the opening set, they went on the dominate the rest of the match, leaving Novara to 20 or less points the next three sets. Russian international Koloseva was unstoppable (25 points), the Russian attack was very productive (49%), leaving Novara with no response.

- We know Novara are a good team. We were too emotional, too nervous and confused in the first set, which caused a lot of mistakes on our part. We started putting pressure on them in the second one, we kicked our game up a notch and forced them to start losing confidence - Sokolova said after the first win in Italy.

Krasnodar added two super convincing Russian championship wins to the one in Europe. They first beat newly promoted Celjabinsk, and then Odintsov, last season's Challenge Cup winner. That match last Friday confirmed Krasnodar's brilliant form. It took them only four rounds of the Russian Superleague to turn into the greatest favorite for the title. 

- We prepared for the second leg match with Novara. We started preparing right after the win in Italy. They're a very powerful opponent and we don't get to think that we beat them home and that there's no danger. Novara are here to do one thing only - to make up for the first match defeat. We need to finish what we started there - libero Kryuchkova said. 

Krasnodar will now be able to count on the brilliant Calderon Dias. She could not participate in the first match since she didn't have her Russian citizenship yet, which was also preventing her from playing the championship matches. She did the last two, proving Krasnodar will have a great team this year with her on board.

The defeat to Dynamo didn't crush Novara's spirits - it only gave them extra motivation for better performances in the Italian championship. After five rounds, they are top table as the only undefeated team. Just to prove how good their game is, Novara beat the defending champions Piacenza easily. The Croatian opposite Barun did brilliantly (28 points), while Americans Klineman and Hill added 26 points combined.

Unfortunately, those wins mean nothing Europe. Dynamo are head and shoulders above all the other opponents they met so far. It would come as a surprise if Novara would manage to make up for the home defeat. They certainly believe it's possible since they went to Russia very early Monday morning to adjust to the conditions as best as possible.

No one will be left too disappointed if they fail in Russia. The team that will end this competition will continue participating in Challenge Cup. Novara would definitely be among the favorites for that title.
