Verona gradually getting better

Lazio lost only to top table Napoli in the last 9 rounds but too many draws didn't get them the desired improvement points-wise and didn't see them join the race for European positions. Lazio are only in spot 9, 11 points short of their city rivals Roma (in spot 5). Pioli's team has been struggling with injuries all season long so he often changes tactical formations in search of better results. Inefficiency has been a problem recently since Lazio haven't score a single goal in the last three rounds. Their visit to Genoa last round was extremely boring. 

As if all of that wasn't enough, Lazio's fans are also causing problems since they're still at war with club owner Lotito. They nearly got Lazio's game against Napoli suspended for racial chants directed at Napoli's players. That is why they are not allowed to attend this game. 

Pioli is now set to meet two bottom-table teams, which means his side needs to win both:

- We need to win, regardless of the fact thy are doing well. My players believe in Europe. Our results are not that good but the boys are working hard. We are good at creating actions through wingers but we don't finish the attacks well. That is what we need to change. 

Good news for Pioli is, his top midfielder and captain Biglia is back, while wingers Candreba and Kishna got back to training. Regardles of that, Pioli still has massive injury struggles. Midfielder Parolo, defender Basta and midfielder Onazi are out today. Center backs Bisevac and De Vrij, defender Radu and midfielder Morrison are injured from before.

Verona were without a win for 22 rounds and then almost won twice in two weeks. They first beat Atlanta and then hosted Inter home. The visitors from Milano scored an early goal but Verona equalized and then scored two more goals (all three from set-pieces). Mancini then fielded Perisic, who first assisted for Icardi and then scored the equalizer. Both teams could have scored the winning goal late in the game but it didn't happen in the end. 

Verona missed a chance to get a step closer to escaping the danger zone. They are still bottom table and 9 big points behind Sampdoria. Since they didn't lose any of the last 5 games, a hope of avoiding relegation returned on the team. They might have given up on the key players Hallfredsson and Sale a bit too early. They could have help the team. 

Del Neri wants first visiting win of the season for his team:

- Verona will go to Rome to win. We cannot think about defending the entire 90 minutes. We're in no position to hold back. A win or a draw would be good for us here. We'll be very motivated, we'll want to win. Lazio will want to win as well because they want to go to Europe. We always react well when meeting teams like Lazio.

The visitors from Verona will be without the suspended newly acquired midfielder Marrone, who will be replaced by Greco in the lineup. Defenders Albertazzi and Souprayen, midfielder Viviani, and forward Siligardi are out as well. Del Neri will go with his favorite 4-4-2 formation today, Veterans Toni and Pazzini will start as strikers again.
