Zenit beat Enisey in an away match, despite losing 59-46 at the half-time, and Oktyabr stuffed the Georgian rookie's hoop with 110 points, showing a fiercely fast game that resembled an NBA team

Zenit and Oktyabr will play the most interesting match of the day, another one from plenty of VTB matches that will catch attention thanks to the offensive basketball. Vasily Karasev's team conceded 50 points in the first half-time against Enisey last week, were losing by 13, and then showed a completely different energy in the second half-time, winning the following 20 minutes 56-35, getting to take the points home.

- We ruined the first half-time, and maybe some of it was because of the long trip. But that was the first match, and it was important to win it, especially because Enisey are much stronger than they were the last season - the coach Karasev explained.

- We're a good team when we play fast, when we started using that, things started looking really good for us. The back shot was also an important factor.

Maybe even the key one. It's really hard to lose an away match when you have 57% three-pointers (13/23). Zenit were really eager to fix that segment last summer, and they definitely did it by bringing Toolson, Timma, Komisarov... Toolson scored 21, 5/8 three-pointers, Timma had 15 and 3/3 three-pointers.

- Krasny Oktyabr are a good team, they brought some excellent players, beat VITA away easily, and are coming here feeling confident. We have to play our style, the way we should defensively, and then we'll be able to win - the captain Kyle Landry said.

The coach Karasev warned about two things:

- Because of the trip from Krasnoyarsk, we spent two sleepless nights, and we have to get guys to a good physical form. We also played the defense badly at the beginning of the last match, so we have to eliminate that.

Defensively, the attention will be on one-on-one game because Oktyabr players are strong individuals, each able to score 25-30 points.

Oktyabr came to St. Petersburg from Georgia, after a rhapsody in Tbilisi, beating the weak VITA by about 50 points. No need to pay attention to that because the Georgians aren't really that great of a team. Oktyabr only took advantage of what was offered, thanks to the great Cooper (9p, 11a, 9s), Johnson (25p, 11/13), and Mitchell (27p, 10/16).

- This was a team win - the coach Bolshakov gloated after the match that can't really be a measure of their value, only of their huge offensive potential.

We have to say that they did look like an NBA team, with offenses where the shots were taken in the first seconds, sometimes even out of the zone. But, Bolshakov obviously allows that, and the players are good enough to do the job.

Cooper was questionable, but he played for 22 minutes, and was perhaps the best player of his team. He's a top point guard, looking at the other players first, and then the hoop, so it was great looking at him distributing the balls.

Zenit are much stronger defensively, and more stable than VITA, so this will be a big test for the team from the far away Volgograd.

Zenit won in Krasnoyarsk mostly thanks to 13/23 three-pointers, with 57% you can beat an NBA team. But other than that, they didn't impress me. You can't shoot like that every day. Enisey were leading by 13 at the half-time, they conceded 59 and looked really humble defensively. Now they'll host a team from Volgograd who have a much stronger lineup than Enisey, a top team. They beat VITA in Georgia by 50, but that's not really relevant. What's important is how they played, their game has heads and tails. Everyone knows their job on the court, Cooper is a great point guard, something Dowdell isn't in Zenit. Cooper left shooting the hoop for Mitchell, Hamilton and Johnson. This Oktyabr have enough weapons to play al-pari match here, even to win it. Zenit weren't convincing during the preseason at all, and something like that won't work today. They played two even matches last season, and this one should be similar.
