Lowen are known for taking even the weaker opponents seriously. Their results in test games so far have proved it. They played inferior rivals but had a significant lead by half time in all of them Otmar 21-13, Balingen 17-9, Basel 14-7 (20 minutes), Leutershausen 22-8, with the only exception being the Stuttgart game which they opened slowly (12-17 at half time, 32-26 in the end). Compared to the last season's team, Gensheimer, Ristovski and Kneer left, while Sigurdsson, Manaskov and Palicka joined. Reinkind and Peterson joined, Larsen and Pekeler are questionable (played the Olympics) but none of them was on the team in the test games. Season start and the Supercup are slowly approaching, Lowen are finding form and I expect them to start this game seriously.

Bietigheim have not changed much this summer. They are basically the same team that played the last season and finished in spot 9 in the second division. They stunned Bregenz 30-24 and Stuttgart 28-25 in test games so far but they lost to the Swiss champions Kadetten 25-18 in two halves of 20 minutes. A few days ago, they lost to the new top league team Erlangen 31-26 (14-10 at half time). For extra comparison, they lost to Goppingen 31-25 (15-12). Lowen are one level higher than them and not even home court advantage will help the home team here.

Interestingly, these two teams played a preseason game last season too. It was 29-24 back then (17-8 at half time). It was the first test game for Lowen but there were still no problems. Jacobsen justified the decline in the second half with a tough training session in the morning. They played in Korntal, which is around 15 km outside of Bietiegheim. Two year ago, when Bietigheim played the top league the last time, they lost by 10 goals twice and lost to Flensburg and Kiel by 8 and 12 goals. It was -8 and -10 at half time.
