Brose signed a new deal with coach Trinchieri which means their game style will not be changing. They will still play a no-holding-back aggressive game from start to finish. They displayed that in the preseason games and recorded all 6 wins. The most representative among them were the ones from the last two tournaments. They beat Trento in Italy by limiting them to 63 points and then beat Milano as well. In Bayreuth they first limited the hosts to 53 points and won by 31 to (43-26 at half time). They went on to limit the even better Ludwigsburg to 63 (won by 19, 45-29 at half time). Radosevic missed the entire preseason and won't be there today either, Wanameker left for Darussafaka but the rest of the team hasn't changed. Some interesting acquisitions joined and the team already seems good.
Frankfurt lost all of their key players over the summer (Voigtmann, Barthel, Theodore, Doornekamp…), they have the youngest team in the league and most of the American acquisitions joined in the last part of the preseason. Head coach Herbert had a back surgery and won't be there at the start of the season. Scrubb is also injured. The preseason proved that this Frankfurt is not where they were last season. For example, they lost to Bayreuth home 61-75, to weakened Oostende in Brussels 70-75, to Cibona 64-73. They didn't go over 70 points in the last 5 preseason games and lost all 5.
They haven't done great in Bamberg in the last seasons. They got limited to 58 points and lost by 13 last season even though they were much better. Two seasons ago they were limited to 62 (-19), to 43 (-30) three seasons ago. In all of those games, Frankfurt managed to stay close in the first half but then fell apart in the second. Given where they are now, their quality and Trunchieri's philosophy, I think the total handicap is the best option.
