Melila won playoffs and the promotion for the top division but they failed to meet some requirements for it so the promotion didn't happen in the end. That didn't discourage them, though, The investments didn't get cut, coach Alcoba stayed on the team, the roster seems to be better than last season. But still, they didn't open this season convincingly as they recorded two defeats to Marino and Araberri. But they beat Palma hom.e The defeat to Araberri happened after overtime and the team was frustrated over it. That and some opening defeats is why I think the team will be at top level now. Guard Suka-Umu is back, forward Almazan as well and the team is now complete. Barcelona B lost all three games. The least convincing defeat was to Gipuzkoa on Friday home (-8). Before that they lost to Castello and Prat. All those teams are worse then Melilla. Barcelona B cannot stand up to them in any way as the team is mostly made of very young players apart from center Trias. They will be faced with Melilla's great front court. Gatell, Van Wijk and Manzano are there as well. Barcelona B's top player Peno has been at the first team this season and that is a problem as well.
All things considered, I expect Melilla to open fierce since they cannot afford another slip. Realistically, they probably couldn't have asked for better opponents. Barca B were at -19 against Prat home in the first round at half time. They were down by 16 against Castello and by 10 against Gipuzkoa. In the only home game, Melilla had +10 against the powerful Palma home. This is one of the toughest trips for any team in the second league and not just because the trip is long. I think the Catalans won't be able to stand up to the home team.
