Australia are very disappointed for no longer being in the race for medals but I doubt they lost motivation. They nearly forced the mighty Russia into overtime yesterday and have not given up even when they were 14 points down. China, on the other hand, lost to Canada by just 3 but Canada controlled the final part of the game. The Chinese coach used just 6 players in QFs. They opened well but things were going downhill as the game advances. Australia use 10 players and that has to affect the result.
When preparing for this tournament, Australia beat Canada 69-56 and China 64-51. Last year at U17 WC Australia won 66-41. Australia now have 8 players from that tournament (all the key players included). China have just three but those three were by far the best ones at that championship. A big problem for China here is not being able to count on center Li who joined their A team and is the top player there.
