Kavala will play the Greek third best league this season after being relegated last season. A lot of players left the team as a result of that. Basically all the key players left apart from Erevbenagie. They already played 4 cup games. In the first round, they beat Doxa Pefkon (3rd league) away 63-55, Arkadios (second league) 109-56 home in the second round. Arkadios hired a coach for this season just days earlier. In the third cup round, Kavala were better than Papagou 75-60 and then Kastoria 81-76 home. Both of those teams are now in the second league. Kolossos are a top division team. They finished regular season in spot 7 with a 50-50 record. They want to reach Top 8 once again. The team is complete changes but the coach is still the same. They beat Promitheas 84-71 (37-34) at a tournament, then lost to PAOK in the dinal 73-77. On Saturday, they beat Amyntas 83-55 (48-24) in the Cup. Amyntas are a top league team. They had a 15-15 record last season while Kavala had a 10-20 record last season.
All things considered, we can say that Kavala were lucky with the draw as they played third-tiers or newly-promoted second tiers so far in the Cup. Kolossos are going to be complete today and clearly care about the Cup. I expect the difference in quality between these teams to be obvious today.
