Klizan has had a tough period that started with his injury that prevented him from defending his St. Petersburg title. As a lot of points were at stake, this cost him his Top 100 position which made his season as a solid failure. However, the Slovakian player healed his wounds and now he has to salvage what he can. His motivation is huge since he does not want to go into Australian Open qualifications, and this tournament is a great chance to avoid that. He's on a right path since he's had a great match against Burquiere, a player who beat him indoors. Even though Kuznetsov seems like a far better opponent, he is primarily a clay player and this is only his second indoor tournament this season. The first round brought him inexperienced Ritschard and how he's facing a real test. I think Klizan is a far more dangerous opponent in these conditions and I think he has the motivation working for him.
