Matosevic reached the semi-finals here last season and had the momentum at the start of this one, but it all ended with another Grand Slam defeat. He hasn't played since Australian Open and this should affect his performance here. Vesely decided to continue with indoor tennis and it was probably because he practiced in the Davis Cup last weekend and there was no point going to South America without real clay preparations. The Czech still doesn't have the right indoor form but that's what I base this bet on. His flaw are his performances on the return in quick conditions. He has no problems with his serve as he is a player who got serves way above 200 km/h at the age of 17. He played four tie-breaks in three matches in Heilbronn and that arena was slower than this one. Matosevic reached the semi-finals here last year, but with 3 overs and I think he will struggle against a lefty. One extended set shouldn't be out of the question, bearing in mind the Australian is overrate as the favorite here.
