Thiem is gradually becoming a player who will soon be fighting for one of the Top 50 positions. He is smart about his carrier, he did a lot of challengers last year, used the invitations to play in ATP tournaments wisely, and he's not lacking confidence. He won three convincing matches here, dominated the serving, and played aggressively both ways. Truth be told, I really don't care what Simon says. If he said his two ribs were broken, I wouldn't play against him. He's a drama queen, but he will not have it easy here. He can win, but struggles a lot. Lorenzi had 5-1 in the third set last year, Paire and him played a 'million breaks' match, but he won both of them. His experience will probably prevail today, but I'm counting on some drama again. The Austrian has 'cojones', he won a set against Tsonga and Murray, and he's now Bursting with confidence. He reached the second round, thus ensure the position in Roland Garros and doesn't need to stress about anything. Best of all, even if Thiem doesn't played his best game, Simon can complicate things anyway. It often happened in this tournament, just like in his carrier on the whole. The more games option is therefore the best one, no matter which point of view you assume.
