One of the most eagerly anticipated matches in the first round

After conquering Bogota and getting into Madrid quarter-finals with 12 consecutive wins, Garcia's performance in Nurnberg was slightly weaker. Even though Garcia has a good game for clay courts, she has shown once more that she makes too many mistakes on slower clay.

Just like Garcia, Ana had an excellent start of the season . She announced her return into the Top 8 this season and one could say she's on the right track. She has 30 wins, 8 defeats and 2 titles. She's very happy with that score:

- I have played lots of matches and gotten many wins which gives me additional confidence. Apart from that, two titles will help me with my goal for this year - getting into Top 8. I have improved my performance on the net, but I also know that I have to work very hard to become more consistent.

This consistency was the cause for her defeat against Sharapova in Stuttgart finals. A similar thing happened against Halep in Madrid quarter-finals, where she had no answer to Romania's power. She withdrew and tried to take the initiative from the baseline, but she just made too many mistakes. Against Serena, she managed to take the second set only to make too many mistakes in the third set, especially on her backhand side.

Ivanović played the quarter-finals at Roland Garros last year and she is expected to get an impressive result this year as well. Garcia has shown great tennis and has beaten a Top 10 player on several occasions. Playing against her home fans will give her additional motivation, but one gets the impression she's not mature enough to beat Ivanović on a tournament like this. 

Garcia played below par in Nurnberg. The reason for that are somewhat slower conditions and being focused on Roland Garros in advance. She was too hasty in rallies and left an impression that she just wanted to get that tournament over with. She will play against Ana Ivanović in the first round and she can't be too happy with the draw. The Serbian did well in the first part of the season, she has two titles and is very confident. However, I still think she should put in a good effort to beat Garcia. The French player has a very good forehand and she also switched the rallies to her backhand side on a few occasions, thus using the weak sides of her opponents. I expect the same here. In addition, the support from the fans will motivate her and I don't think she'll give to many chances to Ivanović on her serve. All in all, I believe Garcia can make this match complicated, get at least one set or get into tie-break, which makes this margin at these odds very much worth the money.
