Rarely do we get a margin this low at a specialist for these conditions. Mertl beat Nedovyesov (Bergamo semifinalst) in three tie-breaks, before that forced three sets against Paire (title winner in Bergamo). He forced three sets against Ilhan, who is sometimes playing ATP level and is clearly a tricky opponent. Mertl played 3 sets in 8 out of his 9 matches this season. Darcis struggled with moving in semifinals last week. He forced three sets but wasn't at his top level. Even if he is doing his best, this margin would be set too low.
