The unwritten rule is not to bet on a player who won the title last week but I'm going to make an exception here for a reason. Not even the change of surface will make me change my mind - going from clay to hard court is much easier than vice-verse. Ferrer won Rio last week, and even though he wasn't doing brilliantly, his performances were better each next match and he went on winning Ferrer-style. Some might be surprise with his choosing hard-court Acapulco next but this is his most successful tournament. He won is three years in a row and lost to Nadal in the final the 4th year. He came back last year when they switched from clay to hard-court to record two convincing opening wins, won the first set against Anderson 6-2 and had to retire with an injury. Acapulco doesn't have a typical hard-court surface and rallies are possible here. Most importantly, the conditions are tough - a combinations of heat and humidity that won't agree with Sijsling. He never played well in such conditions. He has only 4 wins (two after the opponents retired) and 15 defeats in them over the last few years. He lost to a qualifier last week and the conditions were cold and windy. He is now to face one of the toughest players. Ferrer loves Acapulco and since he didn't spend too much energy in the last two matches, fatigue should not be a problem. Best of all, he always beats Sijsling, no matter the surface. He limited him to one game on grass, to 8 games at Roland Garros. Ferrer's perseverance, conditions that won't agree with Sijsling, and huge difference in confidence-level will do the trick and I expect this bet to be successful easily. For the braver among you, try a higher handicap. This one should probably not even exist.
