To begin 2014, I will not go for the winner as it is usually a very unsafe tip, but we should go for a bet that is supported by the stats and the situation and the efficiency of the rivals that will play at Hawthorns. The home WBA team haven't won in last 9 games and are slowly moving towards the relegation zone which means they need a win over Newcastle. They can get to it through a more offensive and risky approach but the bad news for them is that Newcastle have specialized for those situations this season and have already taken all 3 points from 5 away games this season. This suggests that Newcastle can do that or something similar this time but not through defense and parking the bus but through active offense and counter-attacks. The away team have no problems with absent players and they will look for a goal or more, if possible. Since West Brom's need is even bigger, an open and exciting game with lots of chances and goals is a definite prospect. Finally, the stats are great in terms of goals when you look at the last 11 league games between these two clubs. Three goals or more on 9 occasions, and both teams scored in all 11 games.
