Hallescher - Chemnitzer (2:1)

Chemnitz undefeated in seven games

  • Published:

Halle's team gained the necessary confidence with a win in Regensburg, and they can go into this match relaxed, aware that they are seven great points away from the "danger zone"

Hallescher's coach Sven Kohler said, two weeks ago, that he wants six points from three games, which have been played in the meantime. His team collected a total of four points, but Kohler is probably satisfied with that as well. They lost the first game at home against the leader Heidenheim (0-1), they played the second game without goals in Unterhaching and won the third game in Regensburg (4-2).

Aside from the victory, high efficiency of Halle's players in the match was also surprising. While Hallescher scored only seven goals in nine games, they scored four times in Regensburg. The reason for that is probably home team's weak defense and not Halle's dangerous attack, because Regensburg is, with 21 conceded goals in 10 games, defensively the second worst team in the league. Halle reached the victory at the end of the game. In the last five minutes, Lindenhahn (85th) and Baude (89th), two players who came in from the bench in the second half, scored for a 4-2 win. Bertram (14th) and Furuholm (40th) scored for Halle in the first half. This was Furuholm's fourth goal in six games and he is responsible for Hallescher's revival, because they won 13 points from six games since he came to the club. Before his arrival, Hallescher didn't win a single point in four games. They scored only one goal in four games without him, and that one goal was from a penalty kick, not from the game.

Halle is the only team in the league who haven't scored in the first half of their home games. Goal difference in the first half of their five home games is 0-3.

Coach Kohler's team has gained necessary confidence for this derby match against Chemnitz from their last round's win against Regensburg. They can go into this match relaxed, aware that they are seven points away from the "danger zone".

Coach Kohler has primarily warned about the danger from Chemnitzer's offense, especially during the set pieces:

- We have to be careful and avoid making fouls, in order to avoid free kicks.

Captain Ziebig is returning to the squad after his yellow card suspension.

Over 10000 fans are expected at the stadium in Halle.

Chemnitz has barely won against Stuttgart Kickers at home on Saturday. The "director" Garbuschewski scored the only goal five minutes before the end, from a free kick. Three minutes later, again from a free kick, Garbuschewski hit the crossbar. This was a difficult win for Chemnitz, even though they had more players on the pitch in the last thirty minutes. Stuttgart's center back Stein got his second yellow card/red card in the 63rd minute. It needs to be said that Kickers should have taken one, if not all three points from this match, because they have missed several good chances.

With this win, Chemnitz reached the middle of the table, but they can't cross over to the top part of the league table, even though they are undefeated in seven consecutive games. They haven't scored more than two goals in their last six league games.

Chemnitz is the only team in the league which wasn't defeated in an away game, this means they haven't lost any of their last away games. Their last three away games ended with a draw (1-1), and the last five out of six away games finished with the same score (1-1). In each of their eight away games, both teams scored.

Chemnitz is the most efficient team in the league, if you only look at the first half of away games. They scored nine goals in five games, and eight of those were scored in the first half, only one in the second.

Coach Schadlich expects significant support from the fans in the East German derby against Hallescher:

- We are looking forward to a good and numerous support from our fans. This will be a sharp and intense match in front of a beautiful scenery.

Schadlich can't count on these injured players: center back Wachsmuth, defender Le Beau and forward Makarenko. Midfielder Pusch has recovered from injury in the meantime and he has started training with the first team again.

Chemnitz is slowly recovering after a bad start of the championship but they still can't enter the upper half of the table. They have no losses away this season but in five such matches they had four draws. I think the time has come for Chemnitz to earn all three points and for Fink to score a goal or two because three goals in ten matches is not very efficient for the 3rd league's top scorer of all times.
I believe Halle will want for too much after the success against Regensburg, that is to say, they will start an open match and in the end they will be left with nothing. It is an Eastern German derby, the stadium will be filled to the brim and the fans will probably make Halle attack which does not suit their way of playing and that will work in Chemnitz's favor.
I believe Chemnitz will win and just in case I would play AH -0.25 where in case of a draw you get half of the winnings.
