Huelva - Real Jaen (1:1)

Huelva back at the top

  • Published:

Huelva have the deadliest offense in the league and it will be complete after five games as their first striker Arane returns

Recreativo's agony, during which they didn't manage to beat anyone and wasted their supply of points that they accumulate with great performances, lasted for four rounds. In fact, they relinquished their top spot to Deportivo. However, they regained their composure despite the absence of their most important players and they turned things around in an interesting game against Numancia in which they got what might be a crucial win after trailing back in the second half. They regained their top spot and are again in front of a pack of teams waiting for their new slip-up.

This game will show if they fully recovered or whether the game in Numancia was just a temporary flash of brilliance. They have surely recharged their batteries and they will have the support from the fans, plus, their top-scorer Arane will return to the pitch after 5 games. The only aggravating circumstance lies in the fact that they are playing a Cup game against Levante this weekend and that game is equally important as this one. The way things are, coach Barjuan will send the best squad at his disposal today, which should guarantee a good game. On the other hand, we will not see their defender Corcoles who is not fully recovered while their midfielder Valle will need some time before getting back to training sessions.

- We needed a win in Numancia, it came at a right time. The pitch was not ideal for us, but we've managed to win and I have to congratulate my players on that. We've managed to bounce back after a string of poor results and we are back at the top, but we have a long way to go. I would love it if were were first in May. Jaen are a tricky team but a lot of good things have happened and I believe this will be a strong wind in our sails - said the home coach.

Jaen suffered a bad surprise when they were defeated by one of the worst-placed teams - Castilla. This was their second defeat in a row and this definitely shook them up. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, they didn't have much time to think about this defeat as the game against Huelva demands their full concentration. If they want to get a positive result, they will have to play a special game, and this in particular refers to their defensive line that will be under constant pressure against one of the best attacks in the league.

Jaen too have to think about the weekend and the Copa del Rey game against Espanyol this weekend. It is a huge game for them, that is, a game that has been talked about for quite some time.

They are coming to Huelva without their standard midfielder Kitoko and reserve forward Martos who didn't play in the last round as well, but their first-choice defender Servando is back in the squad. When it comes to their forward options, that is, their top scorer Jona, their coach Herrero has a mild migraine about him as he hasn't scored in 3 games.

- We are travelling to Huelva to get a good result. We know this is a tough game, but we've already shown this season that we know how to play these kinds of games. We have a Cup game next weekend, but we have to ignore that game because if we don't focus our full attention to Recreativowe we will not do well there - said their coach.

Huelva managed to end a streak of four games without a win (three losses) by beating Numancia, a team that had thus far not lost a home game yet. This is a big success for Barjuan's team, who have also been propelled back to the top by those three points after Deportivo briefly dethroned them. It should be pointed out that defeats, but without poor performances, came after absences of main players. The situation has improved much in that segment now, and the home strategist can field close to his best possible side. A big plus for them here is the return of their top scorer Arana, after he missed the previous five games. Recreativo have the most lethal offense in the league with 32 goals scored, but their defense is not so solid. The defensive line is paying the price for the focus on the offense, but they are getting results that way, so we will once again be seeing an offensively focused game in which victory will be very important. I personally believe the home team will win, as it is their moment once again. Jaen, on the other hand, are not a team to be underestimated, but after a period of great games, they are on the downturn now. Losing to Tenerife and Castilla, the bottom team of the Segunda, must hurt. I am not sure their defense can withstand the onslaught of the home team. Adding to that, their best scorer Jona has been dry for three rounds, and their results show that. This is a big test for them, but as I already said, I am not sure they can pass it. Backed by their supporters, Recreativo are going for another win today.
