With the win, Club Brugge would be only one point behind Standard (temporarily)

OH Leuven are the only team in the league that didn't concede a goal in the first halftime in the away matches

Club Brugge beat Mons, who are at the very bottom of the table, 1-0. Lestienne scored the only goal in the third minute after Odijdje's assist. Brugge created a few good attempts till the end. but didn't use them. They didn't get punished for the missed opportunities because Mons is simply not good enough for them. Mons had their one and only real attempt in the last minute when they forced Koteles to save his goal (after Arbeitman shoot).

New coach Preud'homme started his new job with success. They beat third division team Oudenaarde 1-0 on Wednesday, and then Mons.

Brugge don't have a single defeat in the championship, and this is their fourth consecutive win. They won 23 out of the 27 points possible and are currently only four points behind Standard, who have a perfect score. They won seven and played two draws in the last seven championship matches. They won the last two without conceding a goal (5-0 goal difference).

Brugge was defeated only once in the last 15 championship matches. It happened last season to Zulte-Waregem (2-5). They scored four goals in each of the last two home matches.

When asked whether his team will maybe underestimate their opponent, coach Preud'homme answered:

- Not at all! The players know it won't be easy at all. They played a very good match with Zule-Waregem. OHL got ahead and created a few more good chances. They are strong in character, they fight hard till the end. 

It is expected that Brugge's starting line up won't be any different than the one in the match with Mons.

OH Leuven played a draw home against Gent on Saturday. They got ahead after scoring from a free kick in the 33rd minute. OHL were a better team after that and equalized in the 66th minute. 33-year-old fan's favorite Ruytinx scored. Both teams fought to win till the end, but the score didn't change.

OHL won only once in the championship and currently hold 12th position with only 7 points. They are only two points away from the danger zone.


OHL won only one out of the last 11 championship matches. They scored more than once in only two out the last 13 championship matches (2-1 against Lokeren, and 2-4 against Zulte-Waregem).

Interestingly, their opponents were never in the last after the first halftime in the five away matches they played; it was 0-0 three times, and 1-0 two times. Their first halftime goal difference is 2-0. OHL are the only team in the league that didn't conceded a goal in the first half times of their away matches.

Brugge trail by only four points behind the leaders Standard. On Sunday this difference can be reduced to just one point, considering that the "reds" have an away game at Zulte-Waregem, where they could lose two or even all three points. Brugge have entered a series of positive results, Lestienne has started to showcase his best football and following coach Preud'homme's taking over the helm, the ambition to win the championship title has grown considerably. Following their early elimination from the qualifications for European competitions, Club Brugge can dedicate their complete attention to the championship. I believe they will go for the goal from the first minute as they will be eager to break the visiting team's deadlock, and therefore I would bet on half-time/end on Brugge. OHL are the only team in the league not to concede a goal in the first half of their away matches but I think the time has come for that to change. I believe the Brugge players will not wait for the second half to finish off the match but they will wrap it all up already in the first half.
