Zurich - Lausanne (3:1)

Zurich presents the NHL forward

  • Published:

The offense of Zurich managed to work out and score 10 goals in the last two matches. Laussane scored only two in the last three matches but they are scoring points thanks to the excellent defense and goalie Huet

Zurich accepted the open approach of Zug in the last match so we witnessed a match with 11 goals. Those are not the results that the coach Crawford prefers, especially not the four conceded goals.

 - We had problems with efficiency earlier. I don't think we played poorly or didn't create goal-scoring opportunities. Now that it finally worked out in the offense, we need to be even more careful in the defense. There is no room to relax - insinuated Crawford on the fact that his team had the lead 4-0 and 6-2 so the four conceded goals are more the fruit of them slowing down rather than being seriously threatened by the opponent.

The bad news for Crawford is the injury of the top scorer Cunti who will not appear this evening. The good news is that the big new reinforcement from NHL will jump in the roster, Gui Latendresse. The former player of Montreal, Minnesota and Ottawa has 359 appearances n NHL and 150 points. Considering he is only 26 we can say he is in his prime.

Apart from Cunti, several more players are injured. Traschler and Neuenschwander should be pointed out as they were regularly in play this season. The appearance of the latter is questionable but we doubt Crawford will risk him if he is not ready.

Laussane played a good match again yesterday but were still left empty-handed. Unlike the previous two times when they at least had one point, yesterday there was nothing to take.

 - You have to be frustrated after such a loss. We deserved more, especially if you look at everything we missed in the final period. We need to end this losing streak as soon as possible - said the coach Ehlers.

That is easier said than done, especially if we know who is their host today.

They have no new problems with injuries, but it is possible that the exhaustion from last night will reflect on their performance. The home team is somewhat more rested after all. That exhaustion might be most intense with the goalie Huet. Lately he is doing a fantastic job but he simply can't find the time for a break. There are no public speculations whether he might be rested this evening by Ehlers but such a move should not be too much of a surprise.

Even though they have equal number of points so far, Zurich are a much better team than Lausanne. The visiting team are not harmless, but most of their players are there just because they couldn't have done better. Goalie Huet's saves are literally keeping them alive lately, but he is a veteran who will have a hard time keeping up with the busy schedule. This will be his forth match in seven days (if he plays). He was on the goal last night as well...Their offense is not convincing at all, they scored twice in the last three matches, and score an average of 1,7 goals per match (the match against Rappi not included). Since they're facing one of the best defenses in the league, they won't have it easy. Best scorer Cunti can't play for the home team. He will remain best scorer only for a short time, I believe. He is neither their best players, nor the center of their game. But, their new NHL signing Letendress, who will play for the first time today, might be. Many bets are possible here statistically, but I will stay away from under bets or Lausanne over fear they might get destroyed by Zurich and end up over in the end. It is more realistic that Zurich will score 4 or 5 than 2 goals, which is why I'll go for the home team's win. They won three times in the four home matches, and lost once after the extra time. Even that defeat happened in a match they dominated completely and conceded two goals on a power play?!
