Zug - Ambri (1:3)

Zug without Holden for 15 games?

  • Published:

Zug's experienced forward was close to seriously injuring Lugano's player with his brutal start. Seeing as this wasn't the first time he's done something like that, he might even get a 15 game suspension

Zug had a fantastic game against Lugano and won all three points. Although they achieved five goals, goalie Kilpelainen was an absolute hero with impressive 53 saves. This fact makes manager Shedden and Zug's fans really happy.

What definitely doesn't make them happy is the situation they found themselves in after the game. Because of his reckless and brutal challenge on the opponent's forward, we definitely won't be seeing Holden today. He was immediately sent off and seeing as he's done such things before, he might get a 15 game suspension. The referee will make his decision today. Forward Kyle Wellwood injured his shoulder and seeing as his contract expires in seven days, the question is whether it is going to be extended. In six appearances, Holden won six points and Wellwood won three in his nine games.

Manager Shedden wasn't too talkative this week, which is understandable. He found his goalie in Kilpelainen and Holden's comeback after injury was fantastic. The problems started just as he thought everything was changing for the better. Given the footage, it is quite certain that Holden is going to be out for a long time.

- There's a difficult game ahead of us. Ambri are much stronger than last year and we've already had unpleasant experiences with them. It's time to put an end to this negative trend - said defenseman Chiesa.

We predicted Ambri could be a pleasant surprise this season and they keep proving us right with each new game. Their great line-up didn't struggle against Zurich. They scored three goals within a few minutes of the first third and simply managed the advantage until the end.

The atmosphere was spoiled a bit after the media speculated that young striker Pedretti wanted to leave the club. The player commented on the matter:

- I don't understand where these rumours are coming from. I'm doing well in Ambri and want to stay here.

Pedretti was degraded to the fourth attacking line and has had slightly less playing time. Manager Pelletier says this is due to his injury (concussion) which made it impossible to prepare well for the start of the season. However, he also added that he has serious plans for him.

There should be no noteworthy changes to last game's roster.

This bet is going against Zug's statistics, but this is for two good reasons. They will have their Finnish goalie Kilpelainen back on the ice, and he was quite good in the initial games. He was poor only against Zurich. Despite allowing three goals against Lugano, he had an impressive 53 saves there. And Ambri will not be rushing forward on the road like Lugano did at home. I expect them to be stopped at 25-30 shots max, and a goal fest should be out of the question here. Also, the home team's offense is weakened by Wellwood's injury and Holden's suspension. These are two foreigners playing in the first line. This will lead to many changes in the team, and the question is how will they react in the first game without these two. Statistically, Zug are slightly above the average, the away team are below the average to a somewhat larger extent. The circumstances are leaning toward an under bet, so these odds certainly carry some value.
