Lugano struggling with injuries, poor form

After the match in Bern, Fribourg coach Hans Kossman shouted: "Finally!" After a very long time, the Dragons played a great match and defeated tough opponents in an away game. But it was just a matter of time for a team with such a good roster.

- We must not loosen up now. It's just one win. We must prove it wasn't an accident - Kossman was quick to warn his players.

What's important for him is that he has no major injury issues. He practically has a full-strength roster at his disposal, ready to aim at the top spot. Davos have a good lead, but it wouldn't be the first time for Fribourg to make a big winning run. They definitely have the quality, both in defense and on goal, and even more so in offense.

While the home team have reasons for optimism, there's nothing but trouble in Lugano's ranks. They lost at home to Biel, a huge disappointment for them. Regardless of plenty of absences, they hadn't expected to slip up there.

- I'm not happy with the performances of my main players. The fact is that we are troubled by injuries, but the bigger problem is that those who are here didn't give everything - coach Fischer said.

The first to suffer the consequences was forward Domenchelli, who is not in Fischer's plans anymore.

- There is no conflict between the two of us. We're already putting together a future roster, and he doesn't fit into our plans. We told him that and he took it like a true professional - Fischer added.

As if all the above wasn't enough trouble, their important forward Rufenacht got injured in the last game. He will be out for six to eight weeks.

The away team will be looking to sign a foreign player next week, and there are already several candidates in the line (Taticek, Micflikier, Danielsson...).

After so many bad news, some good ones are in order. Walsky, Jordy Murray and Sannitz are back at Fischer's disposal after recovering from injuries.

Fribourg is a better team than Lugano, and the win at Bern has certainly improved their confidence. While they are on the rise, Lugano's situation is completely opposite.
