Andersson: The stakes are high, I expect a lot of tension

Although the season is still in its early stages, both teams are aware this game starts their fight for avoiding direct elimination from Elitserien

After four games, Onnereds still have no points. After Lunda’s two consecutive draws  the home team is, alongside Rimbo, the only team without points. However, some improvement is visible. Their defense in the last round against Malmo was far better than in their other games. 

- This is pretty hard for me, I played a disastrous game today - admitted Andreas Berg, who was recently invited to join the Swedish national team and of whom a lot was expected.

He is therefore even more determined to play a quality game today, and the home coach believes all players will be as motivated after the last round, at least in one segment: 

- All six players, whoever they were, played really poor offense. We had the opportunity to take at least one point, if not two, but we missed an unbelievable number of shots. 

Despite their poor start, coach Karlsson did not wish to panic:

- We knew we had a very demanding fixture schedule at the beginning. Defeats are tough, but we need to continue to believe in ourselves and our ability. This is a game which starts the championship for us. 

His attitude is quite logical: these are the teams who will most likely, together with Rimbo, fight to avoid the last place in the league and direct elimination. Therefore the points won at home are very important in this type of a game.  

- We have made a great step forward in our performance and now we need a result to accompany it - concluded Berg, and the opposing coach Andersson is also aware their away game will be tough: 

- I expect a very demanding game, a great battle on the field. OHK are known for their firm defense, especially in front of their fans who are putting the opponent under a lot of pressure.

A point against the current champion Drott should be motivating enough for today’s game, although Lund’s players were in part disappointed they didn't take all the points. They earned their point with excellent offense, but their defense proved to be disastrous.   

- When I came to the club I wanted to improve Lund’s transition and offense. I believe I managed to do so, but my next step is to improve our defense which is really poor - the visiting coach is aware of their problems and concluded:

- Both teams know the importance of this game. The stakes are high, this will be a game with a lot of tension.  

Given their statements, it is obvious we cannot expect to see a beautiful game today. Although the season just started, we could say this is a game in which both teams want to achieve their objective - Kvalserien.

Lund can go over this margin only if Onnereds' defense falls apart. The home team are well known for their good defense game, especially home where their fans create huge pressure for the opposite team's players, and for the referees as well. This game can decide who will end up at the bottom of Eliserin and get directly relegated, even though the season has not advanced that far yet. That is why we expect a lot of tension in the game, and those kind of games usually end with under 60 goals scored. Last game they played here in Allsvenkan was a 24-24 draw, and I fail to see why should this game be any more efficient. True, Onnereds conceded more goals than this margin three times this year, but against Lugi, Kristianstad, and YIF, all of whom are much better teams than Lund. The visiting team scored 34 goals against Drotto, 31 against YIF, which is probably why the margin is set that high. But, Drotto and YIF and much more oriented on running, while Onnnreds play calmly with a much bigger focus on defense.
